Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Silpat Non-Stick Baking Mat, 11.6 x 16.5-inches, Half Sheet Size

Customer Review: Perfect- but just a little confusing
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using a silpat pan liner for two years and finally got around to buying a few more so I would be able to make several batches of cookies and french macaroons. It is so much easier to work with than parchment paper, there is simply no comparison. For washing I do not use soap, I rinse with water only, sometimes even a wipe down with a paper towel is enough to clean it.
My only problem has to do with the confusion in sizes of pan liners, there are so many different sizes some only differing by about a quarter of an inch. It would be great if they could "standardize" the sizes and names they give these liners, it would save a lot of time and confusion.

Customer Review: A must have for bakers
Summary: 5 Stars

I think I own one of almost every kitchen gadget known to man, and used to rely on parchment to bake cookies without worrying about sticking. I got a Silpat for my birthday and love it. I use it for cookies, just like the other reviewers mention, but find it is most useful for kneeding bread dough or rolling out sugar cookies or pie crusts. No more over or under-flouring my kneeding/rolling surface, because I can just peel off the dough if it gets stuck! Pie crusts transfer without cracking. My bread dough is amazing, because I never over-flour, which can ruin bread dough. Clean up is very fast. I store mine rolled up in an old paper towel tube in a drawer.

Customer Review: Great for bread
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned the 12"x 16.5" Silpat mat for over a year now. And I have never used it in my oven. I do use it almost daily as a non-stick surface for kneading bread. It works excellent at this. I have NEVER had any dough stick to this mat. It is easy to clean and works great. I have other methods of keeping food from sticking to baking sheets so I cannot say how it works for that purpose. As a non-stick surface on my counter however, it is fantastic.

I bought the mat from Amazon.com as it arrived quickly and in good condition just like everything else I have ever ordered from this site.

Highly recommended!

Customer Review: Really Great For Bad Cooks, Too!
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently bought 2 of these after reading all the raving reviews left by accomplished cooks. Well, I can tell you that bad cooks like myself will REALLY love a Silpat. No longer will you have to bake 3 dozen cookies just to get 15 edible ones. This really does help cookies brown evenly and bake more uniformly. Also, if you put it in a baking sheet under a frozen lasagne or a frozen cobbler or a frozen chicken pot pie (are you getting my drift here?), you won't have all that black, burnt-on stuff to chisel off your pan and the bottom of your stove. I'm not sure what else these fabulous things will do but you're gonna love them in the kitchen!

Customer Review: work wonders
Summary: 5 Stars

i really really love these mats ... i got two of them. i use them at least once a week for my baking needs.
easy to clean with a wipe of a paper towel or cotton towel.
i have a viking oven and it is hot and i never had problems like some people say with smoke or burn at 350 - 400 degree F ... i mean if you leave your bake cookies for longer than they should ... yes the cookies burn up, but not the mat. and it doesn't stick that you have to use force to pry ... if the cookie dough is still soft yes it is sticky to the mat but when it is out of the oven you just pick them up and they slid right off ... very simple.
