Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Silpat Non-Stick Baking Mat, 11.6 x 16.5-inches, Half Sheet Size

Customer Review: Amazing!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been interested in purchasing a Silpat for many years, but didnt know anyone who owned one so I could get a review. I finally bit the bullet before Christmas and bought two for my Christmas baking. I can't believe I waited so long to do this, I absolutely love the Silpat! I don't think I will ever need to purchase paper anymore for lining my baking sheets! The Silpat fit so nice and snug in my baking pans! I store them inside my pans as well. A simple hand wash wipe and they are clean and ready to go! Super convenient, super easy to use! I highly recommend them. I also made some sticky chex mix for a snack over New Years and I was amazed that the mix didnt stick to the silpat sheet!

Customer Review: Passion for Baking?
Summary: 5 Stars

If you have a passion for baking OR must do a lot of it anyway, this is a terrific product. I used one for a while and soon realized two Silpat mats would be better. I plan to expand my inventory of them because this mat is such a work saver as well as saving money not buying products to help foods release from baking sheets, etc. The messiness of pan-preparation is totally eliminated! My first mat is still doing a super job and it has been used several hundred times!
Tip: Whenever possible, simply wipe the mat and gently roll the mat & store it. I'm blessed to have a special "cubby hole" to slide them into that prevents sharp creases--not washing after every use is a time/work saver.

Customer Review: Great product, a must have item for cooking!
Summary: 5 Stars

Wife has been using for years. Great for baking cookies etc. Easy cleanup. Just don't cut bread or other items as the mats have a fiberglass mat type material inside and noticed after daughter in law cut bread on them. Wife had had the previous one for years. Absolutely nothing sticks to the mats, always easy to clean just rinse off with water to clean. You will never have to scape cookies off a pan again. Also after baking just grab the mats and remove from the warm pans and the cookies won't continue to cook on the hot metal cooking sheet. Highly recommend. Seller shipped items surprisingly fast had them in second day after ordered. If you don't cut on them they will last forever.

Customer Review: Worth every penny!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used Silpat baking mats for about 2 years now. I am not the best baker in the world, but this certainly makes it easier. I have baked cookies, tater-tots, fish etc. and it goes in the top rack of the dishwasher and comes out looking like new. I have given this item as a gift and it was a hit. It keeps it's shape, washes well and is easy to store. Using a Silpat is easier than using tinfoil or parchment paper to line a pan. I have used other silicone baking mats and they gave off fumes and in a couple of cases, changed color. With Silpat, there are no fumes and no color changes, no peeling or flaking either. The only con that I can think of is that you cannot broil on it!

Customer Review: Great for cookies!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned my Silpat since my mother gifted me with it over a year ago. I'm a frequent baker and love to make cookies in particular (usually chocolate chip). My cookies were always good, but now they are perfect, even when baked in a very low quality oven. My cookies don't cook too quickly on the bottoms, they have always come out evenly cooked for me. Perhaps if you are having a problem with uneven cooking you need to upgrade your baking pan. The Silpat can be a little difficult to clean because of its floppy nature, but I usually just keep it on the baking pan. That keeps it flat and much easier to handle. All in all I would recommend this product very highly.
