Customer Review: A great addition to the kitchen, especially for bakers

The Silpat Baking Sheet is a great little tool for bakers to have on hand. Its slippery, silicone, oven-safe surface is completely non-stick--simply place the Silpat over your favorite cookie sheet, add dough, bake, and viola, no more sticking! (The only down side is that unless you have more than one Silpat, you can't start putting the second batch on a second cookie sheet while the first batch is still in the oven.) You can also easily transfer your baked cookies to a rack to cool without removing them from the Silpat. My favorite use for the Silpat, however, is not in the oven; rather, I love using it to roll out dough. For pie crusts (when I make them from scratch, that is!), I sprinkle a little flour on the Silpat, roll out my dough, and then use the Silpat to transfer the dough to my pie pan; the Silpat makes this job SO much easier than rolling out directly on the counter or even on other types of plastic mats I have tried. Overall, this is an excellent, versatile product that is well worth the cost for baking enthusiasts.Customer Review: Will never bake without Silpats again!

After my wife made a batch of peanut butter cookies from a store-bought mix, I confiscated the pouch which contained the mix and had a look at the ingredients. Then I went on the Internet and found a recipe that was close enough in composition and a made up a batch using these silicone mats. Mary had used metal pans and had gotten burned bottoms; whereas, I used the same pans lined with these silicone mats and varied the bake times for the 3 pans to see if I could zero in on a time where the finished cookies weren't burnt. None of my three batches had burnt bottoms. Then a few weeks later I mixed up another batch, dispensed them on 3 separate mats and when all were ready for baking, turned on the stove, and when it reached the proscribed temperature one pan went in after another and I got 3 pans baked to the same degree of doneness. Consistancy, time, and energy savings are what I've experienced when using these mats. Buy this product and experience more positive results in you kitchen. We had been lining our baking tins with non-stick aluminum foil when that product became available. However the non stick version of aluminum foil is significantly more expensive than the regular stuff. So we were keeping our eyes open for alternative solutions. We have a number of Silicone based items for the kitchen so when these became available, I picked one up to give it a try.
We both love this little mat. It stops things from sticking to the baking sheet which can make for a tough cleanup that could damage the pan's non-stock coating. It also saves us money by not having to buy that non-stick aluminum foil. Baked items don't stick to this mat, it has a nice slick coating on it. Cleaning it up is a snap as well, you just run a damp rag over it, roll it up and put it back in the drawer.
We will be buying more of these in the future, they're available in various sizes. Great product!
Customer Review: Tough, Versatile, and Completely Nonstick

These mats are very useful, completely nonstick, and durable enough to survive many trips to and from the oven. I used them for over a year, every time I bake cookies or roast vegetables. Cookies and potato slices will not brown as much on the mat as on a bare metal pan, but they do brown acceptably. I have also taken advantage of their nonstick nature to roll out dough on and prepare chocolate candies on. Because nothing sticks to them, they are easy to clean. They do feel tacky or greasy, however, no matter how much I clean them, but that does not affect their performance in any way.
These mats fit my Norpro 18 Inch x 12 Inch Commercial Grade Aluminum Jelly Roll Pan perfectly.
(It's fun to watch "Good Eats" and see that Alton Brown uses these, too.)

Awesome! No more scrubbing big pans that won't fit in the diswasher! Yeah,, I'm lazy! I'm baking more! From scratch! Its amazing how, just freeing up what would be excess cleaning time can do for your creativity! What impressed me most so far? I ordered on Dec. 23. I used standard shipping...no biggie, I'll wait! It says, "sold by: DeMarle"....it showed up the next day, ON christmas eve...Dec. 24!!! I have worked in small professional kitchens, and let's face it.....they have access to the best "stuff"...so, I trust the quality, the name, etc. But the biggest wow for me is...I'm. NOT a professional purveyor and yet this company has treated me, a simple amazon customer, who only bought the one single item!...as "special"...and I appreciate that more than they will ever know. They now have a customer for life and I will refer all my friends and family directly to them!
