Customer Review: Nice unit...lack of thinking in design

OK, so this is a beautiful unit that keeps the temperature in the range that you expect. The problems I have with the unit are that the stainless edges are too sharp...you will cut yourself. Second, no one...and I mean NO ONE at Danby has ever taken in to consideration Syrah or Pinot bottles...not to mention more expensive, cabernet bottles that are a little "heftier" and larger than "normal" size. Stuffing bottles in to this unit has caused more scraped off labels than I care to describe. You can state that this is not a big deal, but seriously, like an airline, all they had to do is remove a shelf, sell it as a 155 bottle unit, and eliminate this problem. I can barely fit a bottle of BV George de Lateur or Mereyvale Profile (not to mention the Pinots) in there without getting upset.
That being said, the unit does hold temp, is nice to look at, but igt may be better to consider a more well thought our unit to store your investment, unless you don't mind cramming the bottles in there and dealing with the shelf issues. Would like to return, but I am stuck... hmmm, may have been better to consider other units.

This extra large Danby wine cooler, (DWC166BLSRH), is the perfect choice for serious beverage storage. It can be built-in or freestanding and has many excellent features. For starters, it is very sleek and elegant, with a tempered glass door with stainless steel trim. The interior shelves are cherry wood trimmed with stainless steel and gliders, minimizing agitation and adding style. The interior is all black, and the cool blue LED lighting illuminates the interior and bottles with elegance and without the heat like incandescent bulbs have. When it comes to functionality, the cooler offers two separate and independently controlled temperature zones, each ranging from 39F to 64F. Although the temperatures are so cold, the entire cooler is frost-free. The towel bar style handle adds style with the integrated lock with key gives you piece of mind.
