Have used the fountain for a year and a half, after heming and hawing for some time. It is definitely terrific. The on/off switch is no problem as mentioned in a previous review. The filters do a great job, but it is true they need to be replaced in a timely manner. My cat seems to drink water more often with this setup as opposed to the bowl of water previously used. Replacement filters for Fresh Flow Purifying Pet Fountains can be hard to find, so I recommend buying several here at Amazon.com. They use charcoal filters to keep the water fresh. Replace filter every 60 to 90 days for usage by one animal (sometimes I cheat and clean them off for an extra month). They are required to keep all the dust and small bugs that get into the water bowl.Customer Review: This really works for our cat!

Our cat's one bad habit is now cured thanks to this pet fountain waterer and filter system. Aristotle likes to drink moving water which means he likes dripping faucets and flushing toilets...ugh! Absolute lifesaver! My cat would only drink directly from the sink or a water bottle. Now I don't have to keep running water going in the bathroom sink and she also loves to watch the water come out of the top!! Best tip for filters is to buy quite a few at a time!Customer Review: Petmate Filters

I think these filters are great! I've had this fountain for almost a year and have never had any problems with it. I bought 4 replacement filters from Amazon and have used 2 (I change them about every 3 months). My cat loves the fountain, and so do I!
