Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Crock-Pot SCVP600-W Oval 6-Quart Smart-Pot Slow Cooker, WhiteCustomer Review: Smart-Pot Crock-Pot Summary: 4 Stars
I have used this crock pot multiple times since receiving it. Every time I have been extremely pleased with the results. I like the removal lid. I like the times available to program on high and low. I recommend this pot highly. Never has any food stuck on the bottom. The outside does get hot, that is the only drawback I have found with this crock pot.
Customer Review: Double the goulash, double the fun! Summary: 4 Stars
I have this crock pot, and it's HUGE. It's deep. And I have no complaints about it, whatsoever! I make double-sized batched of goulash or monestary lentils in it, and freeze whatever's left over. I'd give it 5 stars if the cord were a few inches longer, but otherwise, it's totally perfect for my family's needs.
Customer Review: Great Product Summary: 4 Stars
I just love my progamable crock-pot. It is so easy to use and save me so very much time and effort.
Customer Review: Rival CrockPot Stoneware Slow Cooker Smart Pot Summary: 3 Stars
Ive had this crockpot for at least 4 years but rarely used it because it overcooked the food so badly. All the meat came out dry and rock hard and stringy and nasty and tasteless.
During a recent kitchen remodel I was motivated to try again because I had nothing else to cook with. I found that if I start out the meat on the High (4 hour) setting until everything is nice and hot -- then reduce the setting to "warm" I can leave the roast or stew for 8-10 hours and come home to a nice, tender, falling-off-the-bone meal just like the recipe states. The literature that came with this model warned against cooking on the warm setting but believe me the "warm" setting on this crockpot is hot hot hot -- too hot to put in your mouth.
My crockpot model number is 38511 but it looks exactly like the one in the picture.
Just today the lid handle broke off but I was able to switch it out with another pot lid handle that I had saved from a cracked glass skillet lid.
On the good side it is very capacious, I like the removable stoneware bowl and now that I've figured out how to use it I will be using it constantly. But it is in no way a "smart" cooker and it is barely programmable unless you consider two settings to be programmable.
Customer Review: It Seems To Be the Quart SIZE that matters Summary: 3 Stars
I've been reading tons of reviews all over amazon and elsewhere. In one place a reviewer wrote that the crock pot should always be at least half full. It seems that consistently the larger the quart size, the more problems there are with burning. I'm suspecting that the smaller ones do better because they are fuller. The crock pots that are 5.5+ in size generally tend to be 2-3 stars with complaints of burning and overcooking, while the smaller ones tend to get 4 stars and have much less complaints about being too hot.
I do cook for larger groups on occasion and the potential for cooking larger amounts is appealing, but all the reviews are enough to convince me that a smaller one is going to give me better results for most of my cooking. So I'm going with something in the 4 qt. range. If you're worried about the "burn factor" as you're investigating what type to buy, just thought this observation may help.
In the end I didn't buy this crock pot, so I just put what the average was for the crock pot because it wasn't an option to leave the rating empty.
