Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Crock-Pot SCVI600B-SS 6-Quart Premium VersaWare Slow Cooker, GoldCustomer Review: Excellent slow cooker, especially if you love pot roast Summary: 5 Stars
Since I got this, been cooking up pot roasts almost every 2 weeks. My wife's been complaining I haven't cooked up any new dishes for a while. Does a great job, you can cook it right over the stove and move it right to the pot afterwards. The meat comes out tender and tasty, of course you have to put the right ingrediants as well. Most importantly, this gives the busy working family a nice turn on and forget. No need to check, no need to fuss, just turn it on, set the timer, when you back home from work, your food is hot & ready to eat.
Cleaning is easy, the pot might be a bit heavy for a girl, but for guys, it's easy. The portions are very big, I can cook it once and it'll last at least 2-3 days.
Price - this is the only complaint, a day after I bought it on AMZN, saw it in Costco for $[...]. Because the cooker does such a great job, even at $[...], it's well worth it.
Customer Review: Outstanding product - works great! Summary: 5 Stars
After purchasing a cheaper crock pot for my son away at college, then reading the poor reviews, I did quite a bit of research and bought him this one. He brought it home for summer vacation and fortunately for me, left it here for the time being when he returned to school. We have used it several times, for traditional crock pot cooking and for browning meats on the stove first then the slow cooking. It works great for all the uses it is advertised for. It's really nice to be able to brown a roast as it should be, before cooking it slowly for hours. The timer is very handy also. You don't have to worry that your dinner is overcooking if you don't get home in time. The versatility of use and nice design makes this a great crock pot to own and use. I am really glad I picked this one and would not trade it for any other crock pot.
Customer Review: great crock pot Summary: 5 Stars
I have an OLD crock pot from the 70's. I have been looking for a reasonably priced pot off and on for a couple of years that could do it all. This is it. If you don't want to spend the money on the comperable All-Clad pot, the VersaWare is the one. I use the VersaWare at least 2-3 times a week. We have an electric stove and I almost always brown the meat using the buffer grate that comes with the pot. After browning the meat I usually turn the pot to high for an hour, then turn it down to low for the rest of the cooking time. It is VERY EASY to use and clean. I do not mind that I cannot see through the lid. I have not refrigerated, microwaved, or baked in it yet. This is a heavenly appliance. It helps me make a good meal for my family without spending as much time in the kitchen. I highly recommend this pot.
Customer Review: Unique! Summary: 5 Stars
I hate washing dishes! I bought this because you braise in the pot on the stove and transfer it to the heating element for slow cooking. Less mess to clean up. I've read very negative reviews about this cooker "It's too heavy." "It cooks too hot & burned my food." I've found this to be a wonderful invention & have had no problems with it burning my food. Yes it's heavy, but no heavier than other brands. I find the count-down timer to be really helpful as well as the automatic change to "warm" once your timer is done. The beauty of this slow cooker is that leftovers can be stored right in the pot, transferred to the oven next day if you wish. The pot is attractive enough to serve right from the table. I highly recommend this slow cooker if you're in the market for one. It's unique and it's a gem.
Customer Review: Great crock pot - high & low reversed Summary: 5 Stars
Love the crock pot. I have used it to brown meat / saute onions on stove top before putting it in the cooker pot - that does work. Crock pot works great. I read in several reviews that the high & low settings were reversed. Didn't quite believe it until I noticed that when I started a recipe as they usually do with 1 hour at High to get things going then 6-8 hours at low to actually cook the meal that the contents barely got past warm when I did the 1 hour at high, but an hour or so later on low it was bubbling away and quite hot. After cooking 2 meals with this I did a test and sure enough... they are reversed. I did a water test several times and after an hour at each setting the "LOW" setting tested approximately 20 degrees warmer than the "HIGH" setting. Other than that I love the cooker.
