I have a Jumbo LapDesk in pink plastic. Within a short time, the soft plastic of which it was made developed a large crack in the middle through what seems to be a defect in materials and workmanship. The plastic used in the product is a soft type vulnerable to fatigue cracks upon even slight flexing, and doesn't seem suitable for the intended purpose.
I'd try one of the wooden desks, unless this is meant to be a throwaway.
