This is a wonderful cleaver. It is quite heavy, constructed only from metal. I did find it to be a little handle heavy. The cleaver itself is much more beautiful than the picture is able to show. It is reasonably sharp and is effective for both tenderizing and chopping and medium size meat tasks. I use it especially on chicken. I also use this cleaver when I am mincing herbs as it chops well and feels good and very sturdy in the hand. The shipping from this seller was top notch and the cleaver arrived much sooner than expected (considering it comes from Asia).
Get the real thing :-) these are great!

I added this cleaver to my collection of tools I use at work in a professional kitchen. What wonderful results I have gotten, it is comfortable to use and durable with heavy usage. This cleaver is much better balanced than the wood handle one. It is extremely easy to sanatize. The balance allows you to cut right through the bone effortlessly and your hand does not get tired from swinging. A definate must if you butcher your own wild game or domesticated live stock(beef, pork, lamb, etc..) A definate over kill for poultry, but very efficient. May the force of the cleaver be with you, young grasshopper!

This Chinese cleaver is beyond my expectations, having purchased another one at a Chinese grocery. It is heavy! Solid stainless and brass - not only a work of art, feels right in the hand, and being so solid opens young coconuts so much better than my first cleaver. Love it. I was wonderfully surprised when this cleaver came. It is everything I had hoped it would be. It's heavy, and important to me, it looks really good. Even if you never used it, it looks good hanging up. It does work well. First thing, I opened a coconut with it. No problems!
