I've had it for 6 months now and not only was it inexpensive, it really does give you a reliably instant, accurate read. So easy to use! Short and to the point here, IT WORKS! Especially during the holidays I do alot of baking and my time is pressed to perform the duties of yeast baking and this thermometer outperforms all others for rapid response. Suggested by America's Test Kitchen and I agree. I didn't know my old meat thermometer was so slow. But don't bother to pay extra for 2 Day shipping. I purchased this thermometer to replace a dial-type one. I love that it is digital and it reads so quickly! I have checked the temps of many meat dishes with it and it is very fast and accurate! The thermometer has worked perfectly from the start for me. The handy cover for it features recommended temperatures for all sorts of meat (nice to have handy). It's been accurate, easy to clean, and offers up some nice little features for the average cook. Can't really go wrong with this.
