I have owned this unit for around 6 months and it has worked flawlessly. I selected the unit because the probe could handle higher temperatures without damage. I have used it in the oven, a fryer, on the grill and in a charcoal smoker with great results. It has selectable doneness levels for multiple types of meat or you can select any temp in between as your goal. I did little research when I purchased this thermometer maybe 3-4 years ago. I use it a lot, for meat, for frying, for candy, etc. My only complaint is that the magnet could be a little stronger. I keep dropping the darn thing and finally cracked the front of it, rendering it useless. (I'll save the probe for if I ever need a backup). Despite my clumsiness, I'm buying the same thing again. I bought my thermometer about a year ago and have used it to cook beef and chicken to perfection. No more dry meat whether it is in the oven or in a smoker or grill. Then I tried it to make fudge. This works great with no trouble. It's easy to use and seems very accurate. It has easy settings for different meats and how well done you want it. Sometimes I'd like to set the alarm at an in-between temp, but it really isn't a problem. I've had no problems for the past couple of years.

I have two of these CDN dgital thermometers and they work fine. I liked the first one well enough that when I decided I needed a second unit I searched out an identical thermometer. Che temperature calibration is right on and the stainless steel shield on the long probe cable sems to work well. Highly recommended.
