This meat thermometer takes all of the guessing out of cooking all types of meat. It is great that you can put it in the oven set the type of meat, the preferred taste well, medium, rare and turn on the temperature alert and go about other kitchen tasks.

I received this as a gift. I never really used the oven that often for cooking meat, and I tended to make everything dry and tough for fear it wasn't cooked through. I've been using this thermometer for the past few months and I think it's great. The dishes I have cooked, from big roasts to chicken breast, have been cooked just right every time. I love the buzzer that tells you when it's reached the recommended temperature. I think it's helped me as a cook learn how to recognize when things are done, so I might not rely on it forever.Customer Review: cook correctly

We got this thermometer a few years ago and have purchased it as gifts for several of our friends and relatives ... who also like its utility. Keep it clean and tucked out of the way when not in use to prevent damage to it. The batteries last a long time and the unit is easy to use. We use it for cooking meat in the oven or the gas grill outside! Meats come out correctly done. Make sure you put the themometer probe in the right location in the meat or the meat won't be done properly...which is the same for ANY meat thermometer.Customer Review: This model is terrific!

I and my professional barbecue team partners have been using three of these units (same model)for a year and a half, with no problems and usage of an average of 45 events per year/40 tests per event. Just use average, sensible care and they work well. I suspect that some of the users who rate these poorly do not have experience and the sense to utilize them the way they are intended. I bought this because I see them on the food programs all the time and thought I'd give it a try. Would NOT be without it ever!! Did a prime rib roast for first time and it was PERFECT!! Set to desired meat and temp, set alarm and wait. Very easy to use and good instructions. Magnet lets you put right on door. The cord is sufficient length but be careful when removing probe, use potholder. It gets hot! A must have for every cook!!!
