Customer Review: BEST WAFFLE MAKER HANDS DOWN!!!!!

When our kids when off to college, the large waffle iron made too many waffles (4 squares) for just my husband and me. At the time of purchase, the large waffle iron was rated by Consumer Reports as the top of the line. It gave many years of good service, and it still works. Still, I downsized to this waffle iron. OMG. Why did I wait so long? This is a BEST BUY!
The waffles, about 7" diameter, turn out perfectly every time. Note that the waffles are thinner than regular waffles, and they're light and crisp. I initially thought the waffle-eating would take awhile, but this waffle iron is so fast that we never experienced a problem with demand. The instruction booklet is very helpful, and it includes some decent recipes. The waffle iron is idiot-proof, with clearly visible controls, and it sounds a non-annoying bell when ready for baking, and another bell when the waffle is done. The waffle iron stores very easily, either flat or upright. The cleaning has been very easy.
Two minor problems:
1) The instructions suggest 1/2 cup waffle batter. That was too much, and it dripped out of the sides a bit. 1/4 cup works better.
2) The waffle iron cooks so fast that a person can't eat fast enough to keep up with the iron, even two can't eat fast enough. That's fixed by letting the iron heat until you're ready for another.
PROS:

(even on a higher, browner setting)
- cooks evenly!
- crisps waffles
CONS:
- waffles are thinner than standard American-style waffles
- cooks so fast that a couple can't keep up with the speed of the waffle iron, even if you try to gobble down a waffle (this is a PRO in some ways, too)
BOTTOMLINE:
I'd buy this waffle iron again in a heartbeat. I'm just sorry that I didn't change waffle irons years ago.
