Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Chef's Choice 632 International Gourmet VariTilt Electric Food Slicer

Customer Review: One GREAT slicer- We are VERY pleased--
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading the reviews, two weeks ago we decided to get the Chef's Choice 632 and cannot be more pleased. It does a magnificent job slicing virtually everything, is rugged, stable and easy to clean, contrary to some criticism in a few reviews. I love the tilt feature, it is really easy to feed salamis, etc, much like a delicatessen food preparer would! Made in Germany, it is a quality well engineered item, compared to some of the "charmin cheapies" available at the retail chain stores.
The safety system is very good, and of a concern to us to keep busy little grandchildren's fingers out of trouble.
We have gone for a long spell without a slicer, having junked a "charmin cheapie", since there was nothing apparently available at an affordable price which was acceptable. Discovering the 632, thanks to Amazon and the gracious readers who shared their experiences, allowed us to join the club of happy slicers. Bon Appetit!!

Customer Review: Great Slicer
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently purchased the Chefs Choice 632 slicer to use for preparing the wedding buffet for my son's wedding. Right from the start this a very easy unit to use and clean. I was able to sliced Prime Rib and Turkey breast with ease, and sliced fruit with making a mess. The unit is very stable and doesn't slide around on the counter when slicing. The only minor thing that I thought could be improved is the catch tray. It is very small. The vari-tilt is also a good feature.
I had a damage food carriage when I removed it from the box, one of the plastic slides under the carriage was cracked. That didn't stop me from using the unit. I called the 800 number provided and spoke to a very nice lady who took all the info. 3 days later I had a brand new carrage delivered, and no questions asked.
What a great company to business with.

Customer Review: Excellent bread slicer
Summary: 5 Stars

Prior to getting the slicer, I had been using an electric knife and a bread slicing guide to slice homemade bread. This was always less than satisfactory, but I had not been able to find an electric bread slicer that didn't cost thousands of dollars, until just the other day, an internet search turned up the Chef's Choice 632 which could be used to slice bread. I ordered it and the package came today. I couldn't wait to try it out and sure enough, it exceeded my wildest dreams for smoothly slicing my homemade bread. For me, it is worth the cost just for this alone, but I am also looking forward to using it to slice meats for sandwiches. All in all, a very reasonably priced slicer for home use.

Customer Review: I actually use it
Summary: 5 Stars

I buy lots of gadgets that seem like a good idea at the time but wind up being rarely or never used. This slicer is different. I'm already choosing meals based on what I can slice (I know, I should get a life). Yesterday, I bought a cut of roast beef I'd normally never consider (too tough) because it looked like a good one to slice thin. That roast was last night's dinner, and was delicious. As other posters have said, the Chef's Choice is pretty easy to clean, making it a distinct improvement over the cheap slicer I bought (and consigned to the back of a closet) years ago. Yeah, the Chef's Choice isn't cheap. But I consider it a good value, and a valuable part of my kitchen arsenal.

Customer Review: So far, so good!
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought this slicer for beef jerky and vegetable slicing for dehydrating. Slices through semi-frozen beef without hesitation and slices evenly. Sliced "chipped" some turkey ham for sandwiches - just like deli-prepared slices. Super easy to clean. Tilting mechanism takes some getting used to for locking in place. Used oven cleaner to clean off the factory lubrication since I had no idea what it was made from - followed with hot sudsy water. Doesn't take too much room on my counter. I'd buy this slicer again. Oh, used the smooth blade, not the serrated. I have no idea when/if I will ever use that blade.
