I don't need to say it, but this is a very low price for the data cable. The cable was shipped quickly and arrived earlier than expected. The USB data cable works great with my LG Shine. I can transfer files and allow my phone to charge at the same time. If you want to transfer data safely to the LG Shine using the data cable, you need to get a MicroSD card. First, format the MicroSD card by putting the MicroSD card in the phone and going to Menu--> Settings-->(#) Reset Settings--> (2) Master Clear--> (2) Memory Card--> (1) Yes. Then go to Menu--> Settings--> (7) Connection --> (2) USB Connection Mode --> select (2) Mass Storage and just plug your USB cable in your computer and phone. It is possible, from what I have read, to use a program and use the phone under "Data Service" to edit the phone settings and add custom message tones and ringtones, however I have not messed with it.Customer Review: Linking to Computers

A suggestion for buyers that are trying to send information to/from the computer to the cell phone: besides the cable, you'll need a SD card (usually micro, but some require mini) and the driver. I own a CU720 Shine, but the driver is actually the VX8400 (it's somewhere on the internet), and certain cables are interchangeable, so don't be surprised if it's tagged differently.
I discovered this later, and so now I have to wait for a SD card, there are some great bargains on Amazon though. Watch out for shipping that are not displayed.
One of the things that cannot be easily transferred is the Contacts, so if that's the plan, do some research.

This cable works perfect! My wife and I got new LG Shine phones and wanted to get the data cable so we could load pictures, music, etc. on the phone. So we went back to the AT&T store where we got the phones to buy the cable. Well they sold us the charging cable with an adapter, and told us that it would also work as a data cable. Well guess what! I doesn't! And for $31 we were pissed! So we returned the cable and started shopping online. I found this cable for $.01 and ordered 2. It came and works like a charm. So there! My cable came with software (even though the product description explicitly states that it does not come with software), but I did not install it. Without the software, the phone shows up as a USB Mass Storage Device, and that's all I need anyway.
The cable itself works great. It's a little stiff to plug into and unplug from your phone at first, but it seems to be loosening up (which is a good thing at the moment). An added bonus is that it will also charge your phone's battery as long as it's plugged in, which if anything, makes this a really cheap and convenient charger.

So I got it without any software in an opaque plastic mail bag. I opened it up, uncoiled it and connected it to my phone. It was a tight fit but snug. I connected the other end to the USB port on my computer and the phone made a noise. The screen said "connected as mass storage media" and the computer prompted me on whether I wanted to view pictures, play music or open the containing folder - So it works just like a flash drive or USB hard drive. Also the phone charges on it. The OS on my computer is Windows XP. No downloads or software necessary.
