Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Cambro RFS6PPSW2190 6-Quart Round Food-Storage Container with Lid, Set of 2Customer Review: perfect for artisan bread making Summary: 5 Stars
There is a reason this is a popular container for the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day crowd. It is sturdy, easy to clean and easy to work with. The handles are big enough to get a firm hold on without being so big that the get in the way. The plastic is sturdy; you can move it about without worrying about it flopping or breaking. The lib fits snugly on without being air tight. I mix and store in the container. The round shape works great. The 6 Qt size is perfect for a single size batch of bread dough. I haven't tried a double batch. But I would suspect that it would work. Just be careful as I have seen a single batch of dough rise above the half way mark. The 6 Qt size is also small enough to work with in your average apartment size kitchen. Fits in the sink for cleaning, etc.
These are on the expensive side. But well worth it.
Customer Review: Very Nice Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased these for ABin5 and HBin5 recipes. They did not come covered in oil, and the stickers which were on the outside of the containers came right off when I heated them up with a little hot water from the inside. I don't care if they're airtight or not because I leave them cracked the first day in the fridge. You can certainly lock the lids down on subsequent days when the yeast have gone into hibernation due to cold and/or lack of food supply as they won't be generating an appreciable amount of CO2.
They can also be used for other things like.......a pretend motorcycle helmet......or musical instruments as my children have aptly proven.....myriad uses abound!
Buy them, love them....eat bread.
Customer Review: Great for making bread using the Artisan Bread in 5 min a day method Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these buckets specifically for holding bread dough made using the recipes in the book, Artisan Breads in 5 Minutes a DayArtisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking. These are great for that purpose and I haven't used them for any other. The measures on the sides are great for knowing the dough had doubled (and can now be used for the next step, or refrigerated). There is plenty of room to mix ingredients together in the container and by modifying the top (punching a few tiny holes in it), it's perfect for storing the unused dough in the fridge. Very happy with this purchase.
Customer Review: I am very pleased Summary: 5 Stars
with this container. I use it to make batches of bread dough ("Artisan Bread in Five Minutes") and store it in the refrigerator. I like that it is easy to open, so there is no struggle as there often is with plastic storage containers. I like that it is clear plastic so that I can see if I have left any flour in the bottom when mixing, so I can scoop it up into the dough. I like that it is lightweight, because the dough is heavy and it could make handling the container challenging if it were not.
I recommend this highly.
Customer Review: Perfect for 5 minute Healthy Bread Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the 6 quart version for making bread from the 5 Minute Healthy/Artisan Bread set of books. I'm glad I got the 6 quart version as the basic bread recipe expanded to just past the 4 quart line on the container. They are perfect for keeping the bread in and fit easily into my refrigerator. The 6 quart ones are 8 inches tall with a 9 inch diameter, and the lid fits snuggly. So far these have been a perfect addition the bread books.
