Works well, only problem is I tend to order stuff in blister packs so I can use the Zipit to cut them out.
Soooooooo much better than fighting with packaging, scissors, knives, razors, etc., etc.
Great gift for anyone who ever has to open seal plastic packaging.
Must have 2 good AA batteries.
I tried this with rechargeable batteries and it works fine. If you buy rechargeables, I highly recommend the 'eneloop' brand since they hold their charge a super long time compared to normal. And get the La Crosse charger. Also purchased and reviewed here on Amazon.

It's actually fun to use since it takes the drudgery out of opening those nearly indestructible packages. It speeds up the process of getting to the prize! It works great on most plastic clamshell packages. I've only had trouble opening one or two diabolical packages that were irregularly shaped and had extra plastic strapping to hold the product in place.Customer Review: Great item

This is a great idea. However it needs some refining. I'm not crazy about the idea of having the cutting wheels exposed while I'm cutting, so I tried it with the guard on. After all, the slot in the guard looks like it is made to accommodate the edge of a package you're trying to open. It definitely works better with the guard off.
As mentioned in other reviews, there are some package designs the ZIPIT will open well. Others, not so much... It's kind of a fun "gadget" but I don't find it as useful as I had hoped.

The idea behind the cutter is excellent. I found it almost takes 2 people to use it. one to hold the cutter and the other to hold the item. Have to push hard to get through the plastic edge, If it were electric it may have more cutting power. The sides being cut cannot be very wide or cutter will not work.
