Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of CDN PT1A Digital Timer/Clock 4 Event Programmable

Customer Review: Nice countdown timer
Summary: 4 Stars

I like it, and can recommend getting it, but improvements for me would be:
a larger display
a larger angle back by which it sits on the easel (would make it easier to see the display when sitting on desk)

Start/Stop button on the right
something on the sliding switch to make it easier to move, and have more definite clicks when it is in place

*** update, a bettter idea ***
*** get rid of the sliding switch, and put on another button under T1 - the Mode button ***
*** buttons should be in this order from left to right: Mode, Clear, Enter, Start/Stop

maybe use an AA battery, do the button batteries last longer?

I'm going to try the Control Company's Traceable® Four-Channel Alarm Timer (5004)
Krackeler Scientific has a nice selection also

Customer Review: Nice Timer, but needs better button seals
Summary: 4 Stars

This is the second of these timers we have purchased. The first one failed after about 8-10 months of light use due to contamination getting inside and disabling some buttons. Although it's still a good value for the function provided, a better environmental seal (i.e. something more appropriate for a kitchen environment) and a larger display would make it ideal. I really wanted a larger display, but less positive reviews on other multi-timers (e.g. the Maverick TM-03 and Polder TMR-897) that did have bigger displays steered me back to this one.

Customer Review: Can't live without this timer!
Summary: 4 Stars

I have had 2 of these timers and my mother has had at least one of these. They are great for keeping track of multiple things. That is it's best feature.
My only complaint is that the magnet on the back isn't very strong. I keep mine on my stove hood and it often slides off and lands in the food. I am buying another one because the one I have now just got immersed in boiling water and doesn't work!
My only other problem with this timer is setting the clock. I can never remember how to set it, so it's usually wrong.

Customer Review: Sound quit working
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had this product for over a year and really liked it. Because it has a weak magnet, it's fallen to the floor a couple of times, so maybe that's the problem - but though the timer still works, there is no more alarm, so the timer does me no good unless I am actually watching it (which I could do with an ordinary clock, so basically it is now useless). It still seems like the best deal on the market, so I am going to buy a replacement, but can't understand why the sound would quit working while everything else is still functioning.

Customer Review: Versatile but sensitive switch
Summary: 4 Stars

Very easy to program and use. The versatility of this product is really what makes it unique. I recently barbecued a whole turkey, baked potatoes, and corn using 3 of the count down timers to (1) check on temperature and see if adjustments had to be made for the turkey (2 & 3)different cook times for the potatoes and corn (4) count up time for the total time of the cook. The only complaint is that the slide switch is somewhat sensitive and has to be jiggled to get it into the timing mode.
