Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of 16 oz Can Crusher

Customer Review: PRO CAN CRUSHER
Summary: 4 Stars

THIS PRODUCT MET MY EXPECTIONS, IT IS EASY TO USE AND SAVE SPACE IN THE RECLING BIN.

Customer Review: Works fairly well, but rivets are getting loose...
Summary: 3 Stars

When we first got this can crusher about five years ago it worked great and we were very happy. We did find that it works best if you crimp the can a little before you set it in to make crushing easier.

Over time however the rivets holding the base that you set the can on have gotten loose and the base now pitches downward a bit. The result of this is that the can often tries to slip out or occasionally is even "shot" out of the crusher. I beaned a window salesman once this way. Oops!

The rivets on the arm are also getting loose. Still, it has lasted about five years now and may continue to serve many more years.

The idea suggested my Mary Lynn sounds brilliant! I can't wait to try it out. It will almost certainly solve our projectile can problems.
Update: July 24, 2008

The rivets holding the handle have broken off, so it is challenging to crush any cans now between holding the handle together and trying to keep the can from firing out from between the jaws of the can crusher. At least it is never boring. I would downgrade the product to two stars but the rating system does not seem to allow this change.

Our household will be trying a different can crusher system this month.

Customer Review: Improving the crusher as it is

Heavy-Duty, Effortless Can Crusher for Recycling - Lifetime Warranty

I don't have such upper body strength and mounted the crusher to push down on. Great, but the can kept slipping out of the crusher, and without me risking my digits to hold it in, it wouldn't work. (possible lawsuit somewhere)! I had an AH HA moment and found one of those 6" round rubber graspers to open cans with. Cut it up, super glued it to the top of the bottom and the bottom of the top and the cans are flat as a flitter without sliding out. So update your product to rubberize the crusher. (I would like to share in the profits if it works) :*)

And I am an advertiser . . . I just can't help it! It would behoove your product!

Customer Review: Heavy Duty Can Crusher
Summary: 3 Stars

This is probably a good item for kitchen use but it just can't hold up in our household. We collect cans over the neighborhood and it is not made to do that much crushing.

Customer Review: Three-handed device
Summary: 2 Stars

Handle does not stay in upright position. When you have crushed a can, and go to remove it, you need to hold the handle, remove the can and insert another can while holding the handle up. Not efficient
