I bring dinner, lunch and snacks to work in plastic containers. All three meals fit into the Gourmet Getaway.
Its about 9" from the base to the top of the zipper (when laid flat). It measures 12 inches across the widest part (also when laid flat), and 7" deep (by measuring across the bottom). The depth narrows at the zipper. Because of the fabric, it fits itself around many sizes and shapes of containers.
It provides enough insulation to keep things cool with a small ice pack for a couple hours. I haven't tested it for longer than that. But I wouldn't expect it to keep things as cool cooped up in the car on a sunny day.
I love that its machine washable and stores flat.
I have one compaint: there's no shoulder strap.
*** edit May 2010 *** With a small ice pack, food stays cool till lunch. Its useless in a hot car. I've washed it many times in the last couple of years and it still looks great.

I love this lunch tote...I get a lot of complements on it and it holds my 40 oz water bottle (tuned on its side) in addition to a plastic food container and odd snacks.
