I have this machine and when it started to leak I came to look for a new one. Since I got this one for $1 at a garage sale, I figured after 2 years it had been a good buy. However, when reading the reviews, I realized a few minor adjustments could be made regarding the leaks.
I bought the #1 Mellita filters because I didn't like the grounds that came thru the gold filter that comes with this machine. I had to fold them so they would fit in the tiny thing, and it worked for a while. The leaking got worse, and in frustration I took out the gold filter all together, used the #1 filter with no folding, in the big basket and WAAALAAA!!! SUCCESS! I believe the decreased area in the tiny basket was slowing up the drip time, and not all the water was coming out when the machine shut off. DUH
NO LEAKS, GREAT COFFEE, AND MY DOLLAR PURCHASE IS STILL GOING STRONG. I use my own cup btw, hate SS cups! I just measured how much water MY size cups held, poured that into the coffeemaker. That way I don't put to much water in when making my coffee and that helped stop the leaks. If you want coffee FAST in the morning, make it the night before, and all you have to do is push the ON button!
This is a great machine for a "one cupper". It's as good as my Bunn for 8-10 cups!
