Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bright Ideas Bumbo Play Tray

Customer Review: Great for feeding
Summary: 4 Stars

I use the tray in conjunction with the Bumbo chair to feed my 6 month old. It works very well for this and she also likes to sit in the chair with the tray on and play. The only down side to this is that she throws the toys on the floor so I am continuously picking them up.

The tray does take some work to get on the chair as the chair is very flexible and if I don't get it on properly my daughter is able to lift it off. That would be the only disadvantage that I see, but I love the chair and the tray has made it that much better.

Customer Review: It's not as great as expected
Summary: 4 Stars

I had very high hopes for this product. Not all of them were met. Once the play tray is attached I think it is a wonderful product. We use it as a high chair as my daughter is just beginning solid foods. But putting the tray on is not quite the experience I had hoped for. It's cumbersome and hard to do on the first try. The parts don't seem to line up well, so you have to squish each side into the space all while trying not to pinch a wandering finger or a thigh. I hate putting it on, but I really do like it once it is on.

Customer Review: Serves its purpose
Summary: 4 Stars

My almost 5 month old loves the bumbo and so do I. The tray allowes for her to play with some of her toys without me having to go constantly pick them up when she drops them. The bumbo/tray is also serving as a transition to feeding in the highchair. It did take a few times for me to get the hang of getting the tray on, but now works like a charm. The bumbo is just molded plastic - so there is no way you can get to high tech with accessories!!! For the cost I would recommend this product.

Customer Review: Do NOT buy the Tray
Summary: 1 Stars

The BUMBO seat is wonderful, but the Tray is AWFUL...a true waste of money. It is surprising that the same company created these two products. Getting the tray on is a little tricky, but that is not the problem. The problem is that the tray comes off with just about any movement. So, unless your infant sits perfectly still at all times, avoid this product. And I don't just mean fussy type movements...ANY movement can knock the tray off. If my 7 month-old slightly lifts her leg, off it comes. One wonderful thing about the seat is the lack of straps, but the same cannot be said about the tray. It definitely needs to be secured in some fashion. Once my daughter realizes it is off, she grabs it with both hands, and it becomes a large and awkward toy. I think there are better "toys" on the market, so since that is all it is good for, I'll be returning it tomorrow. Save yourself the trouble and just enjoy the Bumbo seat as it is.

Customer Review: Love the seat and the tray combo
Summary: 5 Stars

This one of the best new baby inventions. Our son is 6 months old. He has enjoyed this seat beginning at 4 months of age. He can sit up with out me and play with toys on the tray. This is also so much more compact than a huge high chair now that he is eating baby food. We live in a small apartment, so space savers are alway appreciated. It doesn't have a safety harness, so you have to put it on the floor if you aren't going to be right in front of the baby. We take this when ever we travel without the stroller.
