It's such a beautiful bread box, it sits on top of my fridge so i'm very happy that it opens from the from and not the top. I have found that it keeps my bread fresh for weeks, I think my record for regular sliced bread in the box is 3+ weeks, sometimes I wonder if it's supposed to stay for that long, but it tastes just as fresh as when we first bought it (and no the bread is not full of preservatives, we change brands too so it's not a particular brand either). The Italian bread or baguette fresh from the local bakery definitely goes bad sooner, it keeps for about 3-4 days in a ziplock bag, not the paper bag it comes in, otherwise it's rock hard after day 2. I love it, it hasn't given me any problems and it arrived in perfect condition.
