Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Swissmar Borner V-Slicer PlusCustomer Review: Wow! Easy Mandoline! Summary: 4 StarsThis mandoline is so easy to set up, use, break down and clean that I keep it right handy. It's really great and gives an unmistakably elegant touch to anything you're preparing. It was highly reviewed everywhere my gift giver looked, and I echo the glowing reviews in the history of this now essential tool in my kitchen.
Customer Review: One of my best purchases Summary: 5 StarsThis slicer is one of the most useful kitchen tools I've ever purchased. I've had mine for about 20 years now and it's still sharp! Much faster than a knife when slicing potatoes, apples, etc. and all slices are uniformly cut. It stores compactly in its holder and is small enough to keep in a drawer.
Customer Review: a "Must Have" Summary: 5 StarsI am an International Yacht Chef, author of two Guilt Free cookbooks and my knife skills are fine. But when you are slicing and dicing on a 'moving object' in the middle of an ocean, you appreciate all the help you can get. So I bought my first Borner V-Slicer in 1989 and immediately fell in love with it. As long as you use the 'pusher' it is very safe. It take a few uses to get the 'holding angle' right, but I can cut all the veggies for a biiiggg pot of soup in about 1/3 of the time it would take me with a normal knife. I later bought the 'holding bowl' and it is even easier and stores the veggies as they are diced, to be dumped right in the pan of choice. I always took it with me on whatever boat I worked. Now retired, I use it at home constantly. About a month ago, one of the slicing blades bent (after 19 years of 'very heavy' use, so I ordered another. They have changed the design a little, but it is still one of the best kitchen tools ever made. Sam Miles, the Guilt Free Gourmet
Customer Review: Love It!! Summary: 5 StarsI ordered this product after reading all the positive reviews on Amazon and wasn't disappointed. It's a great product. Easy to use. The veggies slice very easily, no pushing and grunting as I did with another slicer I purchased earlier and returned. It's amazingly sharp and well designed so things slice quite effortlessly. And all pieces fit into the container to stand on the counter and won't shake loose. I had looked at expensive stainless steel ones around $100 and thought I would have to buy that to have something work decently, but the V-slicer proved me wrong. It's great!!!
Customer Review: Surprising little mandolin Summary: 5 StarsWorks just as it should. Easy to use, very durable, cuts fast and stays sharp. Not much else to say. Don't let the price deceive you. I have tried several different kinds over the years and this one beats the fancy expensive stainless ones, in terms of functionality.
I almost rated it 4 stars because the appearance is a bit lackluster. However, that would be doing it a disservice. 4 1/2 might be more appropriate, but I'll round up.
