Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bormioli Rocco Murano 14-7/8-Ounce Cobalt Blue Beverage Glass, Set of 4Customer Review: Gorgeous... but not GIFT BOXED! Summary: 5 Stars
Amazon or Bormioli claims that these are "gift boxed"! They are not "gift boxed" at all, unless you consider a cheap little box that products are normally purchased in "gift boxed".
Onto the GOOD... These are beautiful as every other reviewer before me has stated. They are not tall glasses which I prefer, but will hold an ample amount. They are heavy and feel wonderul in your hand (big or small). The color is a gorgeous understated blue and there is variation from one glass to the next. One thing that motivated me to make the purchase was the hammered texture. We currently have clear smooth glasses and every fingerprint, lip print and anything else that you can imagine shows on them. It becomes rather disgusting especially when dealing with pulp. For those that aren't aware as of yet, the top of the glass or lip is uneven going all around, which makes it appear even more handcrafted and expensive. If you do not like natural variation, an uneven lip and prefer cookie cutter perfection; then these beauties are not for you!
Highly recommend for their weight and beauty that can make them become family heirlooms.
Customer Review: great find Summary: 5 Stars
I gave these glasses to my brother because they don't look factory made, and he admires craftsmanship. These are heavy and textured with the vivid splash of cobalt. He loves them, and has gotten many compliments. An interesting, substantial set of glassware at a rock bottom price.
Since then, I have gotten these same glasses for friends who admired my brother's set. They were blown away that I'd send them something this marvelous out of the blue, but these are priced so that you can give freely. After those two sets, I finally bought some for myself, and I find this is the glass I reach for every morning. I love them. Be aware this isn't dainty stuff. Chunky, individual and really satisfying. I'm so glad they're still here. At first I couldn't find the page and I was bereft. But here they are. I'm getting another set. Maybe in the smaller size. In any case, get a few as gifts and one for yourself. Great glasses, unbeatably low prices.
Customer Review: Nice, functional & attractive! Summary: 5 Stars
I really love these glasses. Admittedly we haven't owned ours for long, but I'm about to place an order for two more sets. The glasses are appealing for both casual and classy settings. Each has a nice thick wall and feel substantial in your hand, like they won't break easily. These glasses look hand blown due to the non-uniform rim height, the blue swirl, and also as the faintly dimpled/wavy exterior, which makes the glasses easier to hold on to, also. Because the glasses are short and the exterior is uneven, they stack nicely without worry the glasses will stick together, and that frees up cabinet space. My ONLY complaint with these glasses is that they're not larger. They don't quite hold a 12 oz. can of soda, at least, not unless you fill it to the very rim. I wish they made this style in a pint glass!
Customer Review: Beautiful High Quality! Summary: 5 Stars
A few years ago, I found small pale green versions of this at a discount store. I "googled" Bormioli until I found these and ordered lots of them in this size and the smaller size, too. They are thick, about 1/4" but not overly heavy - very comfortable in the hand. I use the smaller ones for stemless wine glasses (just like in Italy:) and the larger for water and hot tea and anything and everything! They really don't have a machine-made feel - except for the Bormioli stamp on the bottom, you would think they were made by a glassblower since each one is unique. Kosta Boda makes a much more expensive and much less attractive version of this! These are sparkly, the KB ones are dull-looking. Get lots of them, you will want to have enough of them for a lifetime.
Customer Review: Unique and special glassware Summary: 5 Stars
These are quite beautiful glasses, with unique blended blue swirls. The pictures are totally accurate as far as appearances are concerned. The glass itself seems handmade as the rims are not totally flat and perfect, but that gives them a unique look since most glasses have "perfect" flatness. The rims are highly smoothed out so there is no risk of cutting your mouth. One concern I do have is the packaging, there seems to be no real protection inside the box. My three boxes arrived just fine, but I was surprised to see no foam support inside the box. I plan to use these as party glasses for family get togethers.
