After searching for a year or more to find a water jug for my refrigerator...I finally found this item. It seems beyond me with all the controversy about plastic water bottles that some American Company would not have caught on to the fact that good inexpensive water bottles would be in demand. The lids are just fine - they are not meant to hermetically seal the top, only to guide pouring. If you pour gently, at the rate that the opening allows, they do not spill at all. This is an old-fashioned style.
I do wish the lids were dishwasher safe though, and if they were dishwasher-safe silicone they would seal better as people desire.

These bottles are the greatest. I had one for years until the cap finally gave way. Looked all over for the identical replacement and finally found them here. They are nice and slender but very heavy duty glass and easy to handle when full of liquid. The packing when they were shipped to me was excellent - no chance of breakage. I am very happy with these pitchers. They are made of a sturdy glass and they fit very well in the refrigerator. I like that they come with different colors of lids, as I use one for goat kefir (green) and the other for raw milk cow kefir (red). The set comes with different colors on the lids,very nice. If you hold your glass close to the jugs lip, there is no problem with pouring and spillage. These are great items for those who want a cleaner and healthier kitchen by clearing their shelves of plastic based storage containers
