I just got this pitcher, so I cannot speak to longevity but as far as the overall size and design, it really suits my needs. I wanted something glass in which to store my little one's formula and this size is perfect for the 32oz cans of ready made that we use. I like the heft of the glass, the handle placement and the lid. The square footprint fits nicely in the fridge without taking up too much space and the clear glass is helpful for seeing what is inside.
I was going to pass on this pitcher because of some negative reviews I read, but I'm glad I didn't. Others complained of it being too small (it mentions the capacity in the item title and the dimensions under "Product Features"), having a handle that doesn't provide enough room for fingers (I have an average sized hand and my fingers fit fine), and having a lid that doesn't seal well or dribbles when you pour (you have to twist the handle on the lid to expand the gasket that seals the container and it doesn't mention this as being a pour spout lid...so you need to take it out when pouring...no big deal).
All in all very pleased and I would recommend this item.
