Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of BonJour Hugo 3-Cup Unbreakable French Press, BlackCustomer Review: The best "travel" french press ever... Summary: 4 Stars
I am convinced using a french press is the only way to truly enjoy a good cup of coffee, and I love my BonJour 3-cup unbreakable French Press. I travel frequently as part of my job and I travel for pleasure at least four times a year, and my BonJour is always packed in my bag with sufficient coffee to make the trip enjoyable. The reason I gave this press only four stars is the plunger/screen is part plastic, and the plastic breaks down after six months or so of constant use. I now only use the press for travel. I do use a 3-cup Bodum for my daily morning coffee at home, but the glass is easy to break so I will not take it on trips. The BonJour Hugo is a good product at a very good price. Just be gentle with the plunger and it will serve you very well.
Customer Review: Good for travel Summary: 4 Stars
I often travel for business and wanted to make good coffee on the road. We use a french press at home, and the coffee quality is far superior to that of hotel coffee machines. The BonJour Hugo has worked well so far, and fits easily in my suitcase. The press does a good job containing the grounds, which is really all it needs to do. As some others have commented, don't be misled by the 3-cup label -- it does not make three servings of coffee -- it just fills a large mug for a single serving. The plastic carafe has a tendency to attract coffee oils -- I recommend wiping the inside clean with a cloth or paper towel after washing, or there will be a film of residue left on the inside.
Customer Review: 12 US fluid ounces = 1.5 US cups, not 3-Cup Summary: 4 Stars
The term "Cup" by BonJour Hugo is in reference to "Espresso Cups" not American "Coffee Cups" of which it will fill approximately 3/4 of one. American "COFFEE" drinkers should look to the 8-Cup model so you can poor Two cups (Confused yet?).
Questionable advertising aside, the BonJour Hugo Unbreakable lives up to its name. I've dropped it, Microwaved it, and have been using it for a few weeks now. The Press does its job admirably and the secondary filter located in the lid will ensure your cup remains ground free for years to come.
Customer Review: Great little press Summary: 4 Stars
We got this press for travel and it is perfect. The size fits wonderfully in our suitcase or grocery chest and it operates exactly as a french press should. You have to know how to operate this to get it to make coffee, and that means drinking the coffee strong as is or adding hot water after you press it to make it more American style. We later purchased the larger size of press as well for times that we want more coffee without having to make two pots.
Customer Review: Good travel size Summary: 4 Stars
I got this press after breaking a glass one in my suitcase. It is not really a 3 cup press, but makes a good size cup of coffee. I am happy I don't have to worry about glass in my suits any longer. The press works fine, but it is a little harder to push the screen down than the glass one was. I look forward to using this for years.
