Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of BonJour Hugo 3-Cup Unbreakable French Press, BlackCustomer Review: Makes the best coffee! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my sister, but I also have one. It makes the best coffee. Even plain, store-brand beans, make a wonderful, rich cup of coffee. I will never drink coffee from the regular coffee maker again.
Some people think it's a lot of trouble to boil water first, grind beans (which I do), then wait for the hot water to steep the coffee before pressing, but it is well worth it. Those people just don't know a good cup of coffee when they taste one!
I recommend a French coffee press to anyone who is serious about their coffee.
Customer Review: Even works GREAT with tea Summary: 5 Stars
I use my Bonjour press to press my loose Earl Grey tea leaves. It does a fantastic job and the measuring scoop you get with this thing is the perfect size for scooping tea. Get this... it even works great for pressing tea bags to get that extra kick of tea. I don't drink coffee (sorry if that is blasphemy), but I am sure it would do just fine with coffee. This press is NOT a standard U.S. 3 cups. You will do good to get 10-12 oz. out of it. Some may complain about that, but even though it is a little misleading, it is perfect for my 15 oz. mug.
Customer Review: Novice coffee drinker Summary: 5 Stars
The BonJour Hugo is just the right size for one person to make a large cup. Most importantly I found it makes great tea. I cleaned it thoroughly to remove the coffee scent and I am making tea more often in it! I have some exceptional loose teas and it's so much more convenient than a tea pot to make one cup. The price was right for me since I was only experimenting with French Press. I call it my "press" teamaker now. Sure, you can find more ones out there that look nicer, but this is very practical and economical. Perfect.
Customer Review: Perfect for travel! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband is an airline pilot and his coffee is very important to him! He takes his own brand of coffee with him and packs this french press in his bag. As much as he has traveled with it, it remains unbroken. The size fits perfectly in limited space. The fact that it really only gives him one satisfactory cup of coffee is okay with him because the coffee is always hot and fresh. He uses it on the plane and in his hotel rooms. He couldn't be happier.
Customer Review: Perfect for Micronesia Summary: 5 Stars
My son is a Peace Corps volunteer in Micronesia. Up to this point in time, he was boiling his coffee grounds to make a cup of coffee. He is very happy with this coffee press, he says that it is an excellent product. And he really likes French pressed coffee, and thinks it makes an incredibly good mug of brew. He likes it also because it is nonbreakable, which is important when you are 2500 SW of Honolulu, and cannot easily replace a broken carafe.
