We got this gadget three months ago because my wife has limited right hand grasp and can't use a manual can opener. Pros: Our Gizmo has opened many a can since, from small to large. The trick for us is to position the Gizmo on larger cans, turn it on and let it "walk" itself around- smaller cans may have to be held. The charge has lasted for weeks on the average. Cons: Though the blade looks rather cheesy, it has done well so far... the only defect we have noticed is the Gizmo and associated charger's size- they are bulky and don't fit easily into normal kitchen drawers (ergo, four stars). Nonetheless, it is an easy decision for us- the Gizmo stays!A year-plus later (May 2004,) this Gizmo still works like new, with at least daily use. I like it, and my wife is very pleased with it's easy-to-use functionality and its ergonomic fit in her hand. (Tip: When it begins to run down, we turn it on until it is fully discharged before putting it on its charging base - with NiCd batteries, this will prevent your battery form developing a "false memory" and not charge fully.)

So I got this can opener as gift, I was very excited after seeing it on TV! I like the Gizmo because it was so small and wouldn't be a problem storing it, or having it sitting around on the counter. However getting to open a can is another story! I have expierence many ocassion where I cannot get it grip onto the can, after several tries it finally does! Also the battery life of the gizmo seems very short - even after the first charge! So there are a few things that make this great:
1. Size
2. The magnet the keeps the lid from going in your food
3. Price
4. It has rubber grip for better holding
5. Automatic
6. Completely cleanable!
I appreciate this product enough that I have stopped using the manual can opener.

I received this as a gift, and it quickly replaced my old under-the-counter opener.
Pros: Once you figure out how to position it, it never fails to take lids off cleanly and effectively.
It's very light, and small enough not to get in the way.
It fits in the hand well, and is comfortable to use.
Easy to clean.
Cons: Mine didn't come with a docking station/recharger base deal, I just have a cord. I had to rig a hanger from the slot in the top.
The whole cutting section at the top is made to unlock and come off if you turn it all the way up; well, it comes off too easily. It's annoying when I try to fit it on a lid and it pops off.
