Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Black & Decker G48TD Grill and Waffle BakerCustomer Review: Waffles plus Summary: 5 Stars
The waffles come out great. Reverse the plates, extend the top and make panini. They come out just as good. There is nothing wrong with the performance of this product when used correctly.
I took the liberty of reading a few of the demeaning reviews. Cooking spray is not recommended as per the literature supplied. It seems that some just go into motion ignoring the handbook.
Plates fell from the clips was another interesting one. Read the instructions. I can't imagine what would pull a plate out if it was seated correctly.
The product works fine.
Bottom line. I'm not an employee, stockholder, nor do I have any interest in Black @ Decker. I just say it as I see it.

Customer Review: Great item; best price Summary: 5 Stars
My family had a similar waffle maker to this one when I was growing up. It might have been a Sunbeam. When I was in college, I bought a smaller waffle maker for a dollar at a second-hand store. It was old, but rugged. I needed to repair the wiring a few time over the years, but it lasted another 30 years!
When it came time to replace it, I wanted another sturdy product. I didn't want a Belgian-style waffle maker. This Black & Decker model fits the bill. It certainly doesn't have the heft of the products from the middle of the 20th century, but it seems well made. More importantly, it cooks waffles magnificently! We've also used its griddle side to make grilled cheese sandwiches. The kids loved them!
The Amazon price was also unbeatable.
Customer Review: Best Waffle & Pancake Maker Yet Summary: 5 Stars
I purchase this product as a replacement for the same Black & Decker model (G48TD) I have had for the past ten (10) yrs. which still works. I like this grill so much that I wanted to have a back-up in the event the original one goes bad. I make a point of using this every Sunday for either pancakes of waffles and on occasion to grill a sandwich & the waffle plates make a pretty good panini as well. The snapout reversable plates also make cleanups a breeze.
I would definately recommend buying this product if you would prefer the convenience of a pancake griddle & waffle maker in one.
I was glad to see Black & Decker realized they had a good product & that it was still available.
Thanks Black & Decker!!!!!
Customer Review: Great griddle. Summary: 5 Stars
I use this thing in a restaurant, and it works out great. It gets hot fast, and stays hot throughout the day. Because we leave it on all day, it does tend to degrade the metal plates over time, but for how frequently we use them, it lasts a good long time. When we do shiitake mushrooms, the griddle side gives it a perfectly crisped edges like we want them. When we toast bread, it comes out crisp on the outside and warm and steamy on the inside. Everything we throw at it, it handles with impressive grace and style. Love it.
We stopped using it for waffles, because they do tend to be on the thin side, and we prefer the thicker, belgian style waffles. So we bought the waffle maker from black and decker. :)
Customer Review: The best ever! Summary: 5 Stars
We have owned one of these for 30+ years. The new ones are just about as good. As long as you don't scrub them they don't stick or peel. We put PAM on them if they start to stick. They may get crusty around the edges (because we rarely was them at all) but it's like a coffee pot, it works great and the coffee tastes better if you don't wash it with soap and water each time you use it. We don't use oil on the at all. The first time we use them we heat them and place wax paper in briefly to condition them. Also, let it heat up to high before you spray it or put the batter in and it should not stick. That helps too to kill germ (if any). Our extended family all own one as well (about 10 families), and we all love them.
