I have had one of these for nearly 9 years and just had to replace it because the motor died. Tip: if you replace it with same model, don't throw out your steam basket and lid because then you have two for you new one. This isn't just for veggies as most people assume. It has a great guide giving you steam times for all sorts of foods, but I've used it for steaming Salmon, wontons, clams, shrimp(forget having the store steam them!), veggies, rice, fruit(for making baby food). It's so inexpensive and soooo useful. I've bought several for people who have "wow'd" over my use of it!Customer Review: Great Present for healthy eaters

I received this as a wedding gift in June 2004, and I must say that is little machine is very good. You don't have to wait for a long time when cooking fresh or even frozen veggies. Also, I used it to steam some shrimp, so it can be used for various foods. Great for people watching diets, you can add as much salt or seasoning as you like in the little area they have to steam and season the food at the same time. Since I am on a Sodium control diet, it is very important to watch my salt instake and with this steamer I can add it myself with fresh foods (instead of the packaged foods).Customer Review: Dummies guide to Perfect cookin!

You can do alot with this thing and if you use the right amount of water it is perfect every time. All vegetables and meat get done really fast. I Love the auto cut off. Food stays hot for a good while after shut off. Potatoes cook fast if you dice them. Flavoring the water works really well with rice. Rice is perfect and very good but not that fast. I don't mind the 45 minutes for Uncle Ben since it cuts off for you. You can combine things as well and its fun to experiment with flavors together.
I give steamers for Wedding presents and they go over really well.

I bought one fo these for myself and one for my son who is a college student. Cooks vegetables to perfection. Ideal for service 203 people. I love the little part in the steamer which lets you put herbs on. I put some dried or fresh rosemary in there and the fragrance spreads through the kitchen and dining room. Not to big and bulky to sit on the counter top either. I am having a slight problem cooking rice with it, but need to work on that one. I did not buy it for steaming rice though, I bought it for steaming vegetables so it serves its purpose well.Customer Review: Use it almost every day

I've had this steamer for probably 3 or 4 years, and love it. I consider it a vital part of my kitchen equipment, second only to the stove. At the end of a long day, one thing I love about it is the ability to put the vegetables in it, turn it on, and walk away from it without worrying. Before, I was always boiling the pot of my stovetop steamer dry because I wasn't paying enough attention to things as I tried to get dinner organized, make the other dishes, etc. This was one of the first things I gave my boys as they set up housekeeping on their own.
