Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Black & Decker EHC650 2-Speed Food Chopper with 3-Cup BowlCustomer Review: Simply Rocks!!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My Cooking involves a lot of spice blends and purees/Chutneys.
This piece of kitchen ware is simply the best gadget that makes life easy for working professionals.
1. Easy to setup and use
2. Easy to clean
3. Ideal when cooking for 2 people as onions/tomatoes/chilly/garlic etc are quick & easy
4. Safe
Like to have in future versions:
1. Microwaveable base jar
2. Dishwasher compatibility
Tips for maximum satisfaction in the product:
1. Yes, as many have pointed out it does cut onions and other veges too fine if operated for > 5 seconds. The trick is to ensure that you load the vege pieces into the chopper such that they are as big a size the blade can chop/handle and use the right side button for coarse chopping!
2. Try to ensure that you clean the top surfaces/base surfaces immediately post usage so as to ensure that there are no odors that carry forward across to the next blend/purees!
I recommend this to every working professional who is stretched on time and likes to keep cooking simple & easy!
Go for it!
Customer Review: Great Chopper Summary: 5 Stars
I searched high and wide for a small chopper to handle onions and other vegetables to use in sauces. I purchased several models at my local stores and returned them after one use. The simply could not chop onions. I read all the Amazon reviews on the EHC650 and decided to get one. I have not been disappointed. This unit does the job. I especially like the two speeds it offers. It is a pulse-only unit, which gives me more control on the chopping process. Pulse means the chopper only operates while the high or low speed button is pressed. The bowl comes with a lid that doubles as an anti-skid bottom cover. Very nice feature. This means I can chop something, then put in in the refrigerator with it's own cover to wait until I am ready to use it. Let's face it. This is not a very expensive purchase. But it really works well. The bowl only handles 3 cups. But that is not a problem for me because I do not chop huge amounts at any one time. I am very pleased with this unit and would highly recommend this to anyone. Now I can chop onions and not get tears! Good job Black & Decker. Great job Amazon!
Customer Review: One of the most useful kitchen gadgets I own Summary: 5 Stars
I received the Ergo as a Christmas gift. At first, I really didn't think it would see much action - we'd just purchased a higher-end combination blender/processor with a gift certificate, and planned on using it often.Six months later, and guess which has spent more time out of the closet? The Ergo. It's so very light and simple and surprisingly effective, and, unlike the blender/processor, you can store what you've chopped in the fridge right in the container! The plastic foot/lid is pure genius. I love the unit's compactness and clean, solid design. Cleanup is a breeze. Even though the top isn't submersible, I've had no problem wiping it thoroughly enough with a soapy wet cloth if I take care of it directly after chopping. The other parts are all billed as dishwasher-safe, but it takes our family of two about three or four days to fill the dishwasher, and I use the chopper more often than that. My cute little Ergo has become a true kitchen essential. I'd be one very unhappy cook if someone were cruel enough to take it away!
Customer Review: The most used applicance in my kitchen Summary: 5 Stars
In terms of the usage this little chopper gets in my kitchen, almost daily, this is the best investment I've ever made for any small appliance; and I cook a lot. I bought it when my food processor died, as an "interim" chopper while deciding which food processor to buy. Never happened. The B&D chopper is perfect for my small kitchen: doesn't take any counter space, cleans quickly, and chopps almost everything you throw at it quickly and evenly. I said "almost" because it doesn't chopp herbs well unless you mix them with a liquid or something more solid, such as onions or garlic, but this also happened with my older food processor and I always end up chopping them by hand. I also have a KitchenAid mixer and a great blender, and they take care of any job this chopper is not designed to do(soups, kneading, whipping, etc.) making the need for a food processor unnecesary in my kitchen. I even use it to make quick sorbets with frozen fruit and yogurt or juice! I got another one for my son, and he loves it too. Highly recommended!!!
Customer Review: Fabulous! Summary: 5 Stars
What a splendid little machine! I gotta say that this little buster here is the real mccoy. It doesn't come with any bells and whistles, but then again, it does what it says it will do, in as effective a manner as any food processor in the business.
I try to eat as healthily as I can. The EHC650 has made this dream a reality. Just as an example, I don't foresee myself buying much factory processed pasta sauce going forward, since the EHC650 can process a raw organic tomato into liquid in less than one minute. Today I did that, and then added onions, ginger, and a host of other ingredients -- also processed by the EHC650 in less than one minute -- and had a sumptuous home-made pasta sauce in less than 5 minutes.
I can see myself using this new buddy of mine for a whole bunch of different applications. Parents who have infants might say good-bye to Gerber and just use this simple piece of magic to prepare a whole host of healthy organic meals for babies.
Cannot recommend it strongly enough.
