Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Black & Decker DCM2500B SmartBrew CoffeemakerCustomer Review: It Just Makes Coffee. Summary: 5 Stars
Since the trend seems to be the production and purchase of items that make phone calls, play mp3s, serve as calulators, take pictures, play movies and change the cat litter box, this coffeemaker may not impress some people. It just makes coffee. It uses normal coffee filters (the flat bottom type), brews the coffee and turns off the warming plate after two hours. It does not do anything else. I, personally LIKE that. After all, how many mp3 players does one need? What kind of tech-crazy person wants to make phone calls on their coffee maker? Who can talk before they have had their first cup of coffee in the first place?
If you are looking for a coffee maker that just makes coffee and does it rapidly and without any complicated instructions that must be followed (who can follow complicated instructions before their first cup of coffee, either?) then this would be a good choice. If you want to film a movie with your coffee maker, this is not the coffee maker for you.
Customer Review: You Can't Go Wrong With This Best Buy Brewer! Summary: 5 Stars
If you, like me, tend to agonize over purchases like this because you're just not sure you're making the right decision, do yourself a favor, save yourself some time (and angst), and just BUY THIS COFFEEMAKER! Devote your research energies to another project, because you won't find a better value. This smart-looking Black & Decker does exactly what it promises. It has all the features you need and none you don't. I particularly love the fact that, unlike much more expensive brewers I've owned, it truly is "dripless" -- if you want/need that first cup before the brewing process is completely finished, just grab the carafe and pour with confidence, imbued with the knowledge that not a single drop of java will wind up anywhere but in your cup. Yes, we can land a man on the moon AND develop a cheap yet impressively competent coffeemaker!

Customer Review: Good coffee maker! Summary: 5 Stars
I read dozens of reviews of different types and brands of brewers when I was contemplating this purchase. Seemed like all of them, whether expensive or inexpensive, had pos & negs. The truth is, all of them are machines and all can break down. Something that gets used every day and is run for hours at a time can quit unexpectedly. And of all things to break down, if you come out in the morning and find out your coffee maker isn't working, you tend to be a bit crabby about it! I decided I would buy inexpensive, and then if/when it needs replaced I wouldn't have so much heartburn over it.
That said, this is really a VERY GOOD machine! Finally I can fill the reservoir without water running down the side of the pot and all over the counter. This is thanks both the great pour spout AND the big access to the reservoir. The machine is easy to program, and has a 2-hour auto shutoff. That's all I require from a coffee pot.
Customer Review: Couldn't ask for much more Summary: 5 Stars
When shopping around for a coffee maker, I was looking for several selling points and found them all in this unit.
Pros:
1. No drip pouring. Seriously, no drips!
2. Programmable timer. Make up a filter with grounds in it the night before, set it for 7 hours and presto, when I walk into the kitchen out of the shower there's a fresh hot pot of coffee.
3. Automatic shut-off. This is a big one for me, it saves energy and lessens the chance your house will burn down if you forget to turn the hot plate off. It turns off after 2 hours.
I took it out of the box, ran water through it twice and then made my first pot. Water to coffee ratio was just fine. No leakage around the filter or spill-over. Caraffe is sturdy.
Cons:
None to speak of right now. Been using this for about one month and can't find a fault with it. If I come across one I'll edit my review.
Customer Review: Great coffee maker for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I've used many coffee makers over my lifetime and I've come to the conclusion that I prefer the basket-type paper filter to any other. I've used cone filters and permanent gold filters.... but give me a brown paper basket filter coffee maker and I'm happy. I've had this machine about a month and so far I have no complaints, only compliments. Everything about this well-designed coffee maker is easy. Placing the carafe on the plate is a straight shot, no jiggling around to get it to fit properly. I like the top opening up to access the filter and pour in the water. All the parts are easy to clean. I like smooth, not bitter coffee, and whether I drink it extra strong or medium strength, smooth is what I get. I haven't tried the programmable settings because I grind the coffee beans and make it fresh every morning so that is not important to me. Otherwise, really, what more can you expect at any price?
