Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel MugCustomer Review: Great Little Coffeemaker for the $$ Summary: 5 Stars
What started my investigation of single-serve coffeemakers was a recent visit to one of the hotels I represent, the Westin on Sint Maarten. They have these wonderful little coffeemakers in their rooms, and I was hooked. Until that time, I had only seen consumer units using the pods, which is limiting. And the pod machines are expensive. I wanted a personal coffeemaker that allowed me to use Dunkin' Donuts coffee purchased by the pound. So I did some research and found this Black & Decker machine. I was initially concerned about the quality of the coffeemaker because of its low price, but I thought I'd give it a shot because I owned a Black & Decker under-the counter coffeemaker for many years and it made great coffee. Key here being that the water is very hot, which it is with this personal coffeemaker. I am very pleased with the DCM18S because it makes great (hot) coffee, it's easy to remove and clean the little filter cup that is included, it has a small footprint on my counter, and the price was very reasonable. The accompanying travel mug is nice as well. Only two things that prospective buyers should note: if you use your own mug, it must be +/- 4" high or smaller to fit under the exit nozzle, and there tends to be a few drips "after the fact". Neither of these situations bothers me. I hgihly recommend this item.
Customer Review: Perfect little coffee maker - 6 years and going strong! Summary: 5 Stars
I don't usually give 5 stars but this definitely deserves it!
I got one of these as a gift when I went to college and although the first one stopped working after about 8 months, I like it so much I got another one. This one has lasted me 6 YEARS and is still going strong! I might add that I use it almost every day, so it has held up very well. I love the permanent filter, no need to buy the paper ones. I like very strong coffee and I usually put 2-3 tablespoons of coffee per cup (depending on the size I'm using) and it works great. If you more than 3 in, it can overflow into the tank and gets a little messy. Overall it's very easy to clean, even if you do get the grounds into the tank.
It has a very simple design, which is probably why it has lasted so long without problems. LOVE that it turns off by itself and there is no little bit of coffee left in a pot to burn, you get the perfect amount every time!
I usually fill the mug very full when pouring into the tank because there is some liquid loss to evaporation. Also brews very quickly. Coffee is ready in 2-3 minutes. Temperature is great, it's always very hot.
When grinding your own coffee I would suggest a larger auto-drip setting. When you grind it really fine it goes through the filter pretty readily.
Customer Review: Video review of excellent Coffee Maker Summary: 5 Stars
Pros: The Black & Decker coffeemaker is fast and makes great coffee., Saves time (and money) No need to travel to expensive coffee houses. Size is great so it is easy to carry with you.
Cons: Permanent filter can be harder to clean than paper filters.
Highly recommend the Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug. It is very easy to carry and makes great coffee. It is convenient for those who enjoy their coffee first thing in the morning. If traveling, and you prefer not to go to a hotel lobby for coffee-- this is the product to take. Carrying the Black & Decker Brew'n Go coffeemaker with you saves the expense and time waiting for room service. You save the high cost of coffee at famous name coffee houses. Because it is so quick, I take it with me even when other travelers are with me, as it quickly makes several cups of coffee, one cup after the other. Having freshly brewed coffee in your room smells great. My video review demonstrates making a delicious cup of freshly brewed coffee while traveling. The aroma and taste is fantastic. I highly recommend the Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug.

Customer Review: Nice alternative to larger makers and coffee $hops Summary: 5 Stars
The friendly Amazon.com box arrived today. Inside, well packed was the B&D DCM18S Brew 'n Go. The box is about the size of a shoebox, perhaps a bit deeper and not as tall. The unit itself is smartly designed for ergonomic simplicity and efficiency. The glossy black plastic has a look of quality and the gold lettering and logo on the front emote coffee shop functionality. A brushed stainless steel coffee cup, which is large, but somewhat squat completes the package. The cup is easy to handle and feels good in my (large) hand. The unit is small and has a small footprint. It is on par with hotel room coffee makers that make only a few cups (but look like a shrunken full size unit). Form follows function and the unit is nice to look at with well sculpted lines. Ease of use is the greatest asset. A "permanent" filter eliminates the redundant waste of paper found in other machines. I found that slightly less than the 2.5 tablespoons of ground coffee worked best for me, combined with a full coffee cup of cold water. About 2.5 minutes from power on to finished brewing. A few drops of coffee continue to drip out after removing the cup, so put a paper towel down to catch them and you're fine. So far so good. Looking forward to many more happy a.m. cups
Customer Review: I'm glad I purchased this! Summary: 5 Stars
I looked into to all my options for a single cup coffee maker and chose this one because it thought it would do the job and the price is great. - Also, free shipping because I am on a trial run on Amazon Prime (which is awesome by the way). I am soooo happy with this purchase. I only drink 2-3 cups a day and I'm the only one in my house that likes coffee. Ir does not take up too much room on the counter and it fits all my mugs fine - you can fit mugs up to about 5.25" tall. One thing that was not made clear in the description is that you can use any cup, not just the travel mug - so less things to wash. The travel mug is nice and does fit in my minivan's cup holder. It takes just a few minutes from start to finish and automatically shuts off when it's done brewing. The coffee is good and hot. I use plain old foldgers coffee and no grounds go through to the cup, the permanent filter works well. You can probably use pods too - just take the filter out - I will never know though, because pods are too expensive for me. I think this is the best deal if you are looking for a single cup maker. Some others looked like you can only use tiny cups and some came in colors that would look weird in my kitchen and some force you to use pods or disposable filters - this one is perfect for me.
