Customer Review: Works fine so far!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Apparently people have had some problems with this machine. Let me say that I had a head start because of all the great reviews on Amazon. I was well aware of the potential overflow problem and other minor problems which almost made me pass up purchasing it. Well I absolutely made the right decision to buy this little miracle device. Besides, how could I possibly lose when I got it for just $...from Amazon's friday sale. Thats half of the original price. Now I agree that the plastic might be a little cheap, but if you're careful not to abuse it I dont see why it shouldn't last a few years as long as the electrical internals keep their integrity. All it really does is boil water and suck it through a filter. However it does this really well and really fast. I've only had it for a week but my expectations have been met and exceeded. I use the attractive supplied mug to measure my water to add to the reservoir, add two teaspoons of my choice coffee to the filter basket, push a button, and walla! a cup of coffee in a little over two minutes. I mean its litterally done before you can use the bathroom. If you place your sugar/creme in the mug and close the lid, you can brew coffee right through the lid and end up with a cup of coffee to go, sealed and all. I just shake the cup to stir and everything's fine. Not one overflow or any other problem yet, rather a decent cup of coffee, fast. I haven't had any plastic flavor problems with the mug either. Now because this thing is so fast you can boil water for tea or anything else in under three minutes. Much faster than a kettle or microwave. Must be seen to be appreciated. Very convenient. Now the only test left is the test of time.

Customer Review: Surprised and delighted

Bought this for my brother and he wrote this review:

Most coffee makers worth thier salt are over $50, most 1-cup makers require using thier coffee capsules, and my experience with "4-cup" makers are they no better than a 12-cup at making a single cup. My thought when my sister found this was "I can't go wrong for 20 bucks." If it is good then it is a great price, if it isn't then no great loss. I've had this for about 2 weeks and I am delighted with it. It makes a great cup of coffee and I'm particular about it: reasonably strong and dark, i.e. french/italian roast or sumatran are my preferences and always black. If it didn't make a good cup it would have been given to a less discerning drinker toot sweet.

Now for the bonus stuff that makes me extra happy:

Conserves water: no caraffe to wash, just rinse the cup as you would anyway; fill the cup and that's all the water you use; makes exactly one cup up to about 16 oz. (no small feat if you like coffee); the small filter washes out with very little water and I'm experimenting with a paper filter to eliminate this washing, too.

Saves beans: I estimate I'm using about 1/3 fewer beans per cup than for making one drinkable cup from my old 12 cup maker.

Fits perfectly in my car cup holder. Does a great job keeping the coffee hot.

Two minor drawbacks: Pull the cup away and the remaining water in the filter drips onto the platform. A sponge here does the trick with short rinse every now and again. The inside lip of the cup has grooves to hold the lid and these grooves I can feel when I sip with the lid off - minor complaint.

Customer Review: Fantastic!! It's turned me into a coffee addict.

I saw the Black & Decker Brew 'n Go in my local store, but debated with myself over the next few weeks on whether or not it would be a sensible purchase for me since I'm not a heavy coffee drinker (one-cup-a-day). When I do drink coffee at home, I've always used instant coffee.

Since the Black & Decker was under $20, I decided to buy it. I also bought some freshly gounded coffee and brewed my first cup. I was amazed at how quick and easy it brewed coffee. It was as quick as microwaving a cup of water for my instant coffee.

I followed the advise of another reviewer and use the Melitta #2 filter instead of the non-disposal filter that comes with the coffeemaker. This makes for a quick and easy clean up.

The travel mug that comes with the coffeemaker has a flimsy handle so I've never used it. Instead I use a travel mug that I already owned. In fact, I have several different mugs that I can use with this coffeemaker. If I have guests, I can use those mugs to brew them a cup of coffee.

I've been using the Black & Decker Brew 'n Go for approximately two weeks. I'm not much into kitchen gadgets, but this has become more than a "gadget," it's become an indispensible piece of everyday living. The coffee that I brew taste so good that I've gone from a one-a-day-cup drinker to a three to four-a-day-cup drinker. I've finally realized that there is a big difference between instant and fresh brewed ground coffee! It taste so good that I've started to drink coffee at night which makes it difficult for me to get to sleep.

So far this has been the perfect coffeemaker for me.

Customer Review: Wow---This is Great!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking for a small coffee maker for my office. Originally I was looking for one that was smaller in size and probably nothing more than a 4 cup capacity. I started to look on Amazon for what they had to offer and came across this little beauty from Black and Decker. I began reading the reviews which ranged from 1 to 5 stars. This was VERY confusing. I just didn't know what to believe, but the thought of a one cup coffee maker sounded more like what I wanted, and the manufacturers' description sounded what seemed to be the best for a personal coffee maker for an office.

So, despite some of the discouraging reviews and only costing less than $18.00, I ordered one and it arrived last week. Wow...what a GREAT coffee maker! It brews quickly, the coffee is truly hot, and the taste if fantastic. The insulated mug allows the coffee to stay hot for a long time...something that is important to me since I am interrupted often while in the office and like the thought that I am not constantly reheating coffee in a microwave. The overall size is great and takes up little space. You can brew coffee into any size cup, insulated or not, as long as it is no taller than about 5 ¼" so that it fits under the drip area. I have never had any problem with the re-usable filter or having coffee overflow. The thing turns itself off once the coffee is done.

My daughter came over and I made her a cup, and she was also very pleased. So, I ordered her one, plus another one to keep at home. As long as this thing keeps working, I have nothing but praise and would recommend it to anyone!!

Customer Review: Perfect for me, but make sure you know what you're getting
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't like to drink a lot of coffee, just a cup or two a day. I was having a hard time getting the amount of water/coffee grounds right in a 12-cup maker to ensure taste of coffee and quantity. Basically I would end up making too much coffee or the taste was too strong/not strong enough. I find this coffee maker perfect for me...

Pros:
- Has a non-disposable permanent filter, easy to clean and you don't have to drop $$$ on packs of filters.
- Comes with everything you need, just add coffee/water and brew.
- Automatic shutoff, I don't have to remember to turn it off, less of a fire risk.
- Comes with insulated 16 ounce mug, perfect size for what I need.

Cons:
- Short AC cable. If I had to guess I'd say about 2 ft. I understand most don't want a long cable because its a counter-top appliance, but I have one at work and its hard to reach a plug under the table with such a short cable.

Be aware this DOES NOT have a warming/heating plate. You don't really need one for a 16ounce portion (Most will drink it pretty quickly) but just be aware of this. If you use the mug that comes with it I've noticed with the lid on it stays pretty darn hot for 30-45 minutes. I bought this one for the office, I have another one at the house that I use Sat/Sun Mornings, that maker has been going strong now for 3-4 months, so it seems pretty reliable. For 20 bucks I'll be happy with a year out of it and will be sure to buy an exact replacement when the time comes, it's just a perfect little coffee maker for what I need/want.
