Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Black & Decker CO85BM Spacemaker Can Opener, Black/Brushed MetalCustomer Review: Decorator Can Opener Summary: 4 Stars
This color was a hard to find can opener, but my kitchen appliances are black and stainless, so I wanted the opener to match. It took a while to come to stock for delivery. The can opener is difficult to install, and did not match the installation holes of the previous B&D opener I was replacing. You need to allow plenty of room for the opening device to lift if you have a lip on your cabinets. The unit itself works fine. The blade assembly comes off very easily, as I found out when I removed a can. The cut is very jagged on the lid, not smooth as in most openers. The bottle opener and knife sharpener are nice additions on the unit. The overall look is very nice.
Customer Review: Works as advertised... so far... :) Summary: 4 Stars
Product construction is solid and it works nicely. The mounting mechanism to the cabinet is a little
bit "cheesy". It has plastic standoffs with 2 different height that you can choose when mounting
underneath the cabinet. It would have been better to have the mounting holes on the sides so you
can mark the drill holes easier (and to make location adjustments once one or two screws are
inserted). They should have provided a paper template for the drilling hole for marking.
It's worth the price for what it's worth.
Customer Review: Black and Decker spacemaker can opener Summary: 4 Stars
Works fine but when installed, the cutting device does not have enough headroom to be pushed all the way up. It does still work but it was impossible to install under my cabinet without this problem. It seems to me this would be a detail in design that should have been addressed. Otherwise, the appliance is fine. I like the undershelf type of can opener as it clears counter space and the appearance of this one coordinates well with my kitchen appliances.
Customer Review: B&D Space Maker Can Opener Summary: 4 Stars
We like B&D because of over-all durability and effective performance of the designed function.
We replaced a previous B&D under-counter can opener after about 20 years. It was still working, but getting sluggish and under-performing just a bit.
Momma said it was time for a new one, but to make sure: "It is another Black and Decker!" Who was I to argue?
Customer Review: Black and Decker under cainet can opener Summary: 4 Stars
So far I like this product very much, not as much as my older model, but it is a good product. The can opening action is a little slow, and the lid edges are rather ragged, but it does the job. The knife sharpener does a good job on smaller knives, but is difficult to use on larger knives. I would buy this product again.
