Customer Review: Starts strong, wears out fast

We purchased this juicer three years ago and the motor is powerful and good for the price, but the motor mechanism is finicky (doesn't always start promptly when you press down) and the plastic gears ground themselves up in three years. It was good in the meantime for juicing limes and oranges (two different juicing attachments) but cheap plastic gears inside sealed its fate in the end.
I'd repair it, but there is no customer support for internal components out of warranty, and it is not serviced by Black & Decker but by a third party kitchen company that also does George Foreman products and breadmakers. In the meantime, I'm hunting for a 1 cent, 40 tooth to 8 tooth reducing gear that ground itself down to 40 teeth to 1 tooth.
Good design, cheap plastic gears, Black and Decker in decoration only.

I have always wanted a juicer but many of them were too hard to work with or too expensive , this one is just right. It doesn't take a ton of force to make it go , you can control the pulp , it was a great buy.
Just because its not expensive doesn't mean its not going to be a good purchase.

After just 4 uses, the motor broke and it was useless. Somehow you really cannot press down on the juicer when doing oranges or grapefruits. The product needs redesigning to cater for a little more pressure. Some fruit requires a little more pressure to get the juice.
Won't buy it again!
