Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bialetti Moka Express 3-Cup Stovetop PercolatorCustomer Review: The Best Coffee Maker! Summary: 5 StarsIf you need a energy boost in just one cup of coffee, this product is calling your name! Seriously, one cup, will do the trick. Perfect for any morning...and ready in approximately 8 minutes on a medium-high burner. You'll never go back to drip coffee again...cup after cup after cup and so on. Either you're making espresso's or just plain ol' coffee, the Bialetti Moka Express should be on your list of "I want's". I love this product and I hope you will give it a chance!
Customer Review: Makes great coffee; a little awkward to use Summary: 5 StarsI got the 12-cup for when I have guests, after I'd happily used the 6-cup version for myself for about a year. The 12-cup is perfect for making 2 nice, full cups of coffee. I found the coffee to be the same high quality as the 6-cup size. It is more than twice as big as the 6-cup and the size makes it a bit more awkward to screw together or wash. I also think it takes a minute or two longer to brew than the 6-cup (over 10 minutes on medium heat).
Customer Review: Bialetti single serve! Summary: 4 StarsI have been using Bialetti stove top espresso makers for over 10 years. They continue to make a top quality product that makes a decent cup of espresso/coffee. My 2 year old threw out the filter by accident so it was time for a new one. I couldn't believe that one of the only places to have it in stock was Amazon (via Target no less). Even Bialetti was on backorder! The quality has improved over the past 10 years, but the general design remains the same. It still provides a wonderful ritual in the morning of adding water, coffee and threading the unit together. Run it at Medium heat (elec stove) and out percolates a great little brew for one! Enjoy!
Customer Review: Buy this, save your money! Summary: 5 StarsI was looking at Amazon reviews for espresso machines costing hundreds of dollars to replace my Krups when I read a review on this little Moka pot. The reviewer said this is what they use in Italian homes and with a aerolatte frother one could have everything they needed to make great cappuccinos & lattes for a fraction of the cost. This turns out to be amazingly true. I love this little pot. It takes a bit of practice to get the amount of water (I like less than the full 6 cups to get a stronger espresso), coffee amount (filled) and amount of tapping down (just gently), and heat setting (medium low so it has time to extract) exactly right, but it's fast, easy to clean up, and I am thrilled with the quality. I will say that I have an issue with aluminum (some research saying it's not good to cook with it) and I've found they make one in stainless steel that I might get instead--but I would never consider an expensive espresso machine again.
Customer Review: Broke. Twice!! Summary: 1 StarsI received a Bialetti Moka Express a year and a half ago and the handle broke off within 6 months. I wanted to try again, assuming it was a defect of that particular Bialetti, and yesterday, less than a year later the replacement Bialetti broke in the same way again!! I don't have a great deal of wrist strength, and when unscrewing the top use the handle which is illogically (or cheaply, to be exact) made of plastic which doesn't stand up to the strength of the aluminum parts.
This time around I will not replace the Bialetti - unless the manufacturer agrees to send a replacement for free, and am highly disappointed in the inferior quality of the product.
