I was inspired to buy this product after a recent trip to Paris. I wanted an easy way to re-create the wonderful drinks my wife and I enjoyed in the street cafes during the lazy afternoons in Paris.
After reading all the reviews, I decided to give the Bialetti a try. I'm so pleased!!! It does take 4-5 uses before the coffee starts to reach an optimum flavor, though.
I put a little milk in a demitasse (espresso) cup, zap it in the microwave for 5 seconds, add the espresso from the moka pot and a dash of sugar, and I've got my version of Cafe Noisette.
I plan on having it for years to come, and every time I use it, it reminds me of my trip to Paris.

I use a Francis Francis X5 (pricey!!) at home and a Saeco Classico at work and let me tell you, the Bialetti Moka Express rivals both of those. Although you don't quite get the same crema, it doesn't seem to matter much in the end. What you get is strong espresso that isn't bitter like what you get when you use a french press. As the coffee brews, it percolates into the upper chamber which is great because it doesn't burn. I bought two of these as gifts for Christmas and both recipients were very impressed by the end result. It's a must have for any espresso aficianados, or those who want a strong cup of coffee on vacation. No wonder 9 out of 10 Italian families own at least one!Customer Review: 3 minute coffee!

Love it, I absolutely love it. I bought this baby 6 months ago, after lamenting to a friend, I met in Europe last year, that I just couldn't get good coffee any more. She reccomended this little baby. I use it every morning, (I've even taking it camping!) anyway it works faster than my old electric coffee pot, literally in less than the time it takes me to find and put on my shoes in the morning I have fabulous espresso. Plus it tastes way better than Starbuck's and is so much cheaper than one of those fancy counter top models.
My only comment though is if you take it camping, put it on your fry pan not directly on the burner because the handle is plastic.

Having used one of these charming little gadgets for making my morning espresso every day during a recent stay in Umbria, I was determined to purchase one on my return. This simple machine, which has been around for over half a century, is ubiquitous in Italy. The Bialetti model is embarrassingly easy to use, easy to clean and, if the coffee is ground not-too-fine, makes wonderful espresso. While one might purchase any one of many available automatic espresso makers-- with models costing considerably more in fancier styles having additional capabilities-- there is very real pleasure to be found in making your coffee this way, the good old way...Customer Review: My favorite espresso maker of all time

Works great on the stovetop, works great when you're CAMPING..!!! No plugs, no cords, no nonsense -- fill the lower half with water to the indicated mark, put your grounds in the upper basket, join the two halves, wait for it to gurgle and you have EXCEPTIONALLY DELICIOUS espresso the way it ought to be made.The device is simple and beautifully made. I'd recommend the six-cup version, the smaller versions just don't make very much espresso -- I mean, get the six-cup version if there are two of you, since that will make an adequate amount.
Really a brilliant product. I wish that everything was so well-designed and robust. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
