Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bialetti 6800 Moka Express 6-Cup Stovetop Espresso Maker

Customer Review: The gold standard in stove-top espresso makers.
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband has one, my sister-in-law has one, our friends have one. It's a great little thing perfect for gas, electric or glass/flat-top stove that turns out perfect espresso every single time. Clean it, wash it, treat it with care and it'll give you fresh, hot, and smooth espresso every time. My only slight complain is my bad wrists sometimes make it hard to unscrew for cleaning if I've closed it too tight when I put it together (that's my problem, not yours or theirs). This is a great gift for the espresso lover, don't forget some Illy coffee and Bodum Pavina double wall glasses to keep it hot longer than than other glass you can find.

Customer Review: easy-pleasy Italian coffee
Summary: 5 Stars

This li'l jasper makes some great coffee and it's so easy, too. And fun. It's also fun to read the English instructions, trans. from Italian: "suitable for the food use and right for the gas cooker, the electic [sic] plate and the pyroceram." And Don't put too much water in the "little tank"!!! This coffee maker also has the "Little Man" emblazoned on it to "guarantee of the genuine article." I was worried...(The "Little Man" resembles the old Pizza Hut character from the 60's, and in French is called "Pere Moustache!") I'm glad they spent their time and resources building a good product and not on stupid marketing efforts.

Customer Review: easy, delicious and fun
Summary: 5 Stars

I have wanted to purchase one of these for a long time but dragged my feet about doing it. I love this espresso maker. I have been making Dominican Coffee with it and it is absolutely delicious. It is easy to clean. And the coffee is easy to brew. I've been spending an extra ten minutes making my coffee every morning instead of buying one and it is worth every second. Not only is my coffee more tasty than anything I could get at a Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts (whatever your preference), but it is truly enjoyable and relaxing to make every morning. I also purchased the Aerolatte milk frother, which I highly recommend.

Customer Review: AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!
Summary: 5 Stars

I buy the Starbuck's espresso roast coffee (at Walmart for $7 or $8!) and use it in my Moka. I LOVE IT! I think it tastes just as good, if not BETTER than starbucks. I can't believe how rich and strong the coffee turns out! I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FOR ESPRESSO LOVERS!
****Make sure to keep the stove at the lowest heat possible though! I heat it at 5 (a little less than medium heat) at the most. It takes about 5-10 minutes to make the coffee. If I heat up my filtered water a little (to take the chill off) before I put it in the Moka Express, it heats up and makes the coffee faster (more like 5 minutes)

Customer Review: A great espresso maker
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm not sure what E. Mcnair was talking about. This pot is made of aluminum and aluminum doesn't rust. The only way aluminum can rust is if it comes into contact with mercury. I'd certainly stop using the pot if that was the case and would have my water tested for mercury. If that isn't the problem then I'd suspect that somehow this person's pot was exposed to mercury and would look into it as well.

An edit for E. Mcnair, I will review the pot itself now. I have never had any problems with this pot, it works wonderfully and it makes the best espresso I've ever had. It is easy to use as well.
