Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bialetti 6799 Moka Express 3-Cup Stovetop Espresso Maker

Customer Review: Simple and great espresso
Summary: 5 Stars

After my wife visited Italy for almost a month, she came come proclaiming the quality of espresso made with the Bialetti Moka in the households she stayed in. Although she isn't a regular coffee drinker, something about the espresso experience stuck with her.

I received my Moka Express (3 cup) yesterday and have used it three times so far, and am impressed with the simplicity of the device and quality of the results. The espresso is excellent and distinctly better than what I've been able to achieve with the inexpensive steam-driven machines. (I think the result might be in a slightly different category from the commercial high-pressure espresso from a large machine which has stronger flavors.) Overall I am quite happy with the results and plan to include espresso from my Bialetti in my morning coffee ritual.

Customer Review: Bialetti makes great espresso
Summary: 5 Stars

One of these was supplied with an apartment I rented in Rome, and I loved it. I bought this one when I returned to the US. It works great, is a snap to clean, and makes great espresso. I like the little size, with one caveat: it is too small to capture much of the flame from my gas burner. I wish I had a smaller burner; but since I'm not about to buy a new range, I wish the Bialetti had a broader base. If your range doesn't have any quite small burners, you might want to get a larger unit.

I'm sticking with this unit, because the "3 cups" (which is more like 6 or 7 ounces) is what I want to make. But it seems wasteful to have most the flame not under the espresso maker (even though it still works fine), and it makes me wonder if I'd have been happier with a bigger one.

Customer Review: IT"S SO GOOD I Threw Away My Electric Unit!
Summary: 5 Stars

Just got the 3-cup Moka Express. I didn't have any espresso roast, but I did have some Starbucks med house blend ground for drip coffee makers. I ground it a little finer and in about 5 minutes, had a pot of really rich tasting espresso. A little scalded milk in the microwave and I had a yummy cup of Cuban style Café con leche. By comparison it takes over 20 minutes for a four cup pot with my electric espresso maker. My French press takes 15 minutes, uses over twice as much coffee, and is a pain to clean. Neither of those devices can make coffee this good! I would recommend this great little unit to anyone who wants the rich taste of authentic espresso and espresso drinks combined with speed and easy cleanup. No wonder it's been around for almost a hundred years!

Customer Review: is it sick to love your coffee pot ?
Summary: 5 Stars

I absolutely love this darling little moka pot. It makes the most delicious espresso shop coffee in the comfort of my home. The only reason I go to Starbuck's is to purchase their espresso beans. The coffee is consistently delicious, as long as you remember to set the stove on "low" or "low/medium" so as not to burn or scald your brew. I heat and froth the milk while the coffee brews because once this little aluminum pot heats up, it really gets going and you will want to be at the ready to enjoy your coffee at it's prime. The price of this pot is amazing, there is no need to waste your money on a fancy espresso machine and costly trips to Starbuck's. This moka pot and perhaps a hand held milk frother..(I use the "Bonjour" brand )..are all you need for an exquisite cup of coffee.

Customer Review: Makes The Perfect One Short Cup Of Coffee
Summary: 5 Stars

Since I'm the only one who drinks coffee, and only on weekends, I hate dealing with all the equipment to make more coffee than I can drink. This makes one perfect little cup of coffee, strong but not paint thinner, and allows me to get my fix with minimal work, time and mess. Remember to put the can on the far edge of the burner so that the handle doesn't catch any heat, and it's nice and cool. The only downside to this is that you have to pay attention for the 2 minutes it takes to heat. Otherwise I guess it could burn. For people that don't drink several cups from a batch, this is the perfect solution. I'm not sure why they call this 3 cup. The one I got when I ordered this makes about 12 ounces of coffee, when completely filled with water.
