The only downside to this beautiful contraption is that NO ONE you attempt to explain it to will think it is as cool as you do. Nor will they understand why you are so excited about it. Nor comprehend the utter MAGIC required for this thing to do what it does. Oooh but once you show them... My girlfriend finally stopped telling me to "shut up about your stupid toaster." Even she was impressed.
The eggs are done to perfection every time - even hard boiled (that's the magic part). I've used both eggs and Egg Beaters with equal success. The Meat Warmer (I want to shake the hand of the lazy person who decided on that name) doesn't actually cook, so no raw meat, but I've used it to cook/heat veggie burgers, Chik patties, etc. with no problems. It heats up frozen solid veggie burgers and merely refrigerated patties to the same perfectly cooked state every time - more of that magic stuff, I assume.
Toast - well, it's pretty difficult to be bad at toating toast.
I use this thing three or four times a week for a quick easy meal. I ... It completes me.

I bought the Back to Basics TEM500 Egg & Muffin 2-slice Toaster in January of this year after reading many, many reviews. I never would have bought it if it wasn't for the reviews because I thought it would be just another one of those appliances that always fall way short of billing. I didn't know such a thing even existed; I was just trying to find a good toaster and came across this egg and muffin toaster. I absolutely LOVE this toaster, it's everything people said it was, and if it dies after a few years I hope they are still making them because I don't want to be without it. We are constantly making either Egg Muffins or Bagel Muffins. I buy bacon and fix it myself and then refrigerate or freeze it instead of buying pricey pre-cooked bacon. I had one small problem of my own making when I first got it and I called their Customer Service; they couldn't be nicer. She took care of my problem within minutes. I felt like I was on a crusade telling anyone that would hold still long enough that they had to get one. If you need a toaster, get this one..and it makes just plain toast too.Customer Review: 10 year old loves it!

I bought this for my 10 year old son actually. He is the early bird in the house and helps get his younger brother's ready for school. I thought this might be something he would like to try, better than just cereal every day! I ran it through with him one evening, and he was good to go.
We bought precooked turkey sausage patties, sliced deli ham, sliced turkey, and I precooked some turkey bacon for him to have some different choices. They are all placed in different zip locks so he can take out just what he needs easily. We bought multigrain english muffins and mini bagels. He has started to experiment with how much water he puts in, so he can have softer eggs for him and firmer for the younger two boys.
It has really made him feel independent and even creative, he said, letting him make the choices and have a healthy and quick breakfast! I am much more comfortable with this machine, than letting him break out the pots and pans and using the stove! We couldn't be happier, well maybe if I had bought the bigger version for him to make two at a time!!

I was originally a little skeptical about a toaster making eggs, but I have to say, I'm blown away. This is the easiest thing to use, super quick to clean up (takes mere seconds), and the eggs are perfect. Using my own low cal English muffins and non-stick (low cal) cooking spray I use this machine to quickly whip up a healthy, filling and low calorie treat for my husband and I (there is a version of this unit on Amazon that does 4 slices of bread and 2 eggs if you're cooking for more than one person at a time Back to Basics TEM4500 4-Slot Egg-and-Muffin Toaster)-if you like McMuffins, try this-you'll never go back to those gross fast food sandwiches again! (Also could try adding gourmet cheeses and tomato slices to make a more special treat-and still fewer cal than McD's)
Totally recommend to all. I'm prob going to buy some of these for xmas gifts for the fam....we all love eggs for breakfast but never have the time-this little wonder solves that problem!

I'll admit, I was somewhat skeptical when I first saw this toaster. Just another gadget to work for a little bit, then let me down, either because it doesn't do what is should, or it will work for a little bit and quit. Now, 45 days later, I am really impressed at how well it does what is is supposed to do, and how easy it is to use also. And easy to clean too.
In about 4 minutes, it makes great egg-muffin sandwiches, add a little bacon, great. The egg cooker portion is also great for warming up slightly stale bagels. Just put 2 tablespoons of water in the well, and let it cook! Hot,moist, and fresh.
Purchased it here on AMAZON for less that the well known box store too. Free shipping, well, it just doesn't get any better.
It doesn't make your coffee or play music, but it does do exactly what is is designed for! Nice to see that you actually get what you pay for in this toaster.
I don't think you will be disappointed with this toaster, the only drawback is that is takes a little extra room on the counter, kind of looks like a 1949 HUDSON !
