Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Back to Basics CM300BR Cocoa-Latte Chrome 32-Ounce Hot-Drink MakerCustomer Review: Great for lattes Summary: 5 Stars
I just opened the box and made my first latte and I am in love!! Cannot believe I almost spent hundreds of dollars on a machine that would do the same thing. I knew it would mix the ingredients and heat them without a problem, but I was skeptical about the froth. The froth was beautiful!
Now, I will say, I only started drinking lattes about two years ago and I am in no way a purist. This machine calls for a teaspoon of instant coffee, which I am sure true coffee lovers would shake their head at. But I would imagine, if you already have an espresso machine, you could pour in the espresso as opposed to the instant coffee and water and get the same result - beautiful froth! I am using sugar free vanilla syrup with mine and it turned out great.
Would definitely recommend!
Customer Review: Makes yummy hot cocoa Summary: 5 Stars
I first thought, "How extraneous is a device to make hot cocoa? I mean, all you do is add hot water or milk to a packet of cocoa mix and stir!" Of course, I ordered it anyway, thinking I could have it at work (since there is no place to heat milk at work). This product goes above and beyond "just heating and stirring," though. It heats the milk to the perfect temperaure. It keeps the beverage at that perfect temperature until you turn off the machine. It blends the milk and powder or syrup together so well that you can't detect the powder or syrup anymore. It produces froth (if you want). It also cleans fairly easily, but only if you put water in the pot right when you turn off the machine (otherwise it will become sticky and much harder to clean). In summary, totally worth the cost!
Customer Review: Moved My Blender Summary: 5 Stars
I moved my blender off of the kitchen counter to make room for my new favorite kitchen appliance! This Cocoa-Latte Maker is wonderful!!! The blender may move back in the summer, but for now, when it's cold, this hot drink maker runs every day. It's larger than I thought it would be, although not too big, and holds enough hot chocolate for 6 big mugs full. Of course you can make only one cup if you you want. It stirs, heats, and froths just like it says it would, and even keeps the extra liquid hot until you need it. The pour spout works fine, the instruction book comes with lots of recipes for all kinds of drinks, and the unit is easy to clean. I love mine and even bought one for a friend. I don't know how I lived without it!
Customer Review: For mom Summary: 5 Stars
Here in Alaska we LOVE our coffee I bought my mom a espresso machine last year, so I bought this to help her make her flavored lattes and mochas. If you read some of tthe older reviews they have issues but i think the issues are resoved for example the pithcer is removable and can easily be washed in the dishwsher but i would not recomend that as it will shorten its teflon life.
It functions well and as stated you can froth or not but agin in the coffe world you can add flavored syrup right to the hopper and Presto instant latte. I personlly have used my mothers many times and it works well when you dont want to steam milk but want it heated with out the scorch or boil by other methods.
And the price is great.
Customer Review: I love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I will admit that I just bought this product tonight and have only used it once, but it was excellent! I have become addicted to Starbucks chai and have been giving them at least $100 each month! Now I buy my own chai and am frothing it at home! The other day I was using a regular coffee maker with a frother on it and it wasn't working for some reason so I unscrewed the lid and got a 4" 2nd degree burn on my wrist / arm area. Now it is all blistered and sore! I decided I had better get something that took ME out of the equation! This product did that! I will keep my fingers crossed that some of the mechanical complications that people are complaining about don't happen with my machine!
