I was born and raised in Florida. I loved hot chocolate, but there was rarely cause to drink it there. I moved to North Carolina and since I've moved here, I've wanted a hot chocolate maker (for almost 3 years now). I'm no coffee drinker, so this is my warm delight. I finally ordered this machine and it is awesome. Yeah, cleaning isn't as convenient as say a blender, but it's not hard to rinse out either. I just make sure to rinse it immediately after I pour my cup. Just slosh some water around inside and your good. And my husband didn't believe me at first, but it really is so much easier. You just pour in the water (or milk), cocoa mix, and any other preferences and it goes to work. It's done after about only a minute for one cup. It kicks back on if you leave it too long and it starts too cool off. My husband complained that it was a little noisy, but I like that because then I know when it shuts off and the hot cocoa is ready. This size is perfect for me and my husband, but if you had a bigger family the larger more expensive one might be better. If you only drink hot chocolate 5 days out of year, don't bother buying it. If you like hot chocolate once a day in the winter, definitely consider buying it. I'm super happy with mine!Customer Review: Worth every nickel

I emailed this link to my brother when he asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I love it! It is simple to use, simple to clean, and really performs great for the price. The booklet that comes with it gives lots of recipes but I made up one of my own using Hills Bros. English Toffee Cappuccino mix.
16oz of fresh hot coffee
1/2 cup of milk
8 tsps of English Toffee powdered mix.
Tastes better than what you pay several dollars for at a coffee shop. It dispenses about a 1/2 inch head of froth into your cup if you use the Froth/Dispense feature. The machine keeps the drink very hot too.
If you like hot cocoa, cappuccinos, and latte, buy this, you won't be disappointed.
I don't know about the negative reviews, maybe they got a bad machine or thought it would do more. The only thing I expected it to do was mix, heat and froth and it performs wonderfully to me. If you wash and wipe it out immediately after using then you shouldn't have any problem cleaning it. Granted I've only had it for a couple days but if it lasts a month then it has paid for itself, however, I don't foresee any problems with normal use, the unit is mostly plastic but if you want glass and stainless then you can expect to pay a lot more, right?

The best thing about this hot chocolate maker is that you can just turn it on, add the ingredients, and BAM, awesome hot chocolate. I am not a coffee drink, however, I love hot coco. So two years ago my wife bought me one of these machines. It was just the other day that I had my first instant hot chocolate in a very long time, and there is a huge difference.
The device comes with a booklet of about a dozen recipes for hot chocolate, however, you can do cider, punch and other stuff in this maker. Each recipe makes the hot chocolate super creamy, and in my opinion, the perfect temperature. The device does last a long time as I am going on my third year with the same machine. It is easy to clean (as long as you don't let it sit out after using) and simple to put together.
There have been reviews stating how short the cord is, however, the cord is the same length as all my other kitchen appliances. It is not dish washer safe, though I think putting in the dishwasher would be pointless as it is that easy to clean. Overall I am happy with this machine, and I plan on buying it for some people I know for Christmas.

I really like this item, and I'm glad I was finally able to find it here. It's incredibly easy to use, and it comes with a booklet full of yummy recipes. So far, I've only used it to make hot cocoa, mochas, & chai tea lattes, but they've all turned out well. My fave easy recipe is: Fill to the 8 oz. line with milk, add a packet of hot chocolate mix, add a packet of instant coffee, and a spoonful of caramel syrup or flavored liquor.
The only downside to this, is that the top doesn't come off of the base for easier washing, and that there is always some residue stuck to the bottom of the pitcher (where the heating element is, I presume) that takes some extra scrubbing. Other than that, washing it isn't too bad, since I only use it every couple of days. I just add hot soapy water to the pitcher, let it stand for a few minutes, then scrub the pitcher (especially the bottom where the residue is), rinse it (be sure to let some clean water flow through the spigot to clean it, if you don't want to take the spigot apart each time), and throw it in the dish drainer for the next use.

Our whole family loves it! When my husband first saw it he remarked "what do you need that for" After I saw him refill his cup last weekend I said "so I guess you like it". It makes 4 nice size cups, which is perfect for my family. I just fill with milk up to the line how many cups I want to make and put in the chocolate mix. turn it on and in about 4 mins. or so it is heated. The machine will stop mixing when it's done, but will remix every few minutes until you turn it off. This is nice because it keeps it evenly warm until you are ready for it. I use stephen milk chocolate powder mix and 1% milk and it tastes great! Very creamy. I have used skim milk too but I don't think it froths up as much and isn't as creamy. Also, not hard to clean it you do it right after you are done with it. The temperature is perfect for me. My husband finds that it's a little hot but then again he will food that is still cold in the middle.
This is a great buy for anyone who loves hot chocolate!
