I have only used the steam canner for one canning job, but I am very pleased with my purchase since it performed exactly as the previous steam canner that I used and coveted. I was only canning applesauce this time, but for everything except non-acid foods a steam canner beats a bath canner and a pressure canner. For non-acid foods, a pressure canner should be used, but this steam canner is wonderful for everything else!Customer Review: This thing is GREAT!

I owned one of these canners for years, and it finally wore out. I had to order another one, as these canners make life so nice for canning. Little start up time, less water and heat, and the canned foods are safer than with a hot water bath canner. What's not to love? I have told all of my canning friends to get one of these things as soon as they can, and run, not walk, away from the traditional hot water bath.Customer Review: So easy!

My mom is a big canner but I never really thought until this summer when I had my own garden. I've got my hands full with my work and school and wasn't interested in the longer canning process I remember from my childhood. Mom was actually the one to recommend this (who doesn't listen to their mom?!)...she made the switch last year. Easy!! I bought this because my wife sometimes likes to can when I'm NOT around. The big, standard canning pot can be extremely heavy and somewhat dangerous considering the amount of hot water involved. This canner allows for quicker processing while using less water which in turn consumes less energy to achieve the boiling point/steam point. This canner is so much better than the old fashioned water bath canners.
Lighter and uses less water, heats up very quick and is so simple to use. It holds the same amount of jars as the traditional water bath canner. There is no difference in processing times and your product turns out just the same.
I can more now because the back to basic canner makes it much quicker!
