Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Wonder WasherCustomer Review: It really does work! Summary: 4 Stars
As a few have mentioned, it's not a heavy duty complicated looking apparatus. It looks like something you would take to the beach and put shells in. But I just wanted it to work and I was pleasantly surprised. I just did my first load... some white undergarments. They came out RESPLENDENTLY white and I could not be happier! However, here's what I've learned so far:
Tip #1 - The lid REALLY does not fit tightly on top. With it "locked", you can't get in but water can DEFINITELY get out.
Tip #2 - When the instructions say "fill" the bucket with water...don't you do it! Make your loads small and do NOT fill water up to the top. As a matter of fact, I'd say, don't go too much higher than halfway full. I made the mistake of filling to about three inches from the tip... and TIDAL WAVES OF WATER came gushing out. Which leads me to my next tip...
Tip #3 - Put towels around the unit to catch any water that leaks from the top during the cycle.
Tip #4 - (For aged, infirmed or just not very strong friends) Whereever you fill the bucket, plan on doing your wash very close by - since the bucket with laundry and liquid is very heavy.
So far this is all I know. For the price, I feel like I got a nice alternative to hand washing. It remains to be seen just how much this little machine will keep me from the laundromat (which is why I bought it). I'm thinking, it will probably depend on me and how often I can make myself do little loads... or else take out a whole day to do several in a row.
But I'll make it work. For the price, I think it was/is worth it.
Customer Review: Good Stuff Summary: 4 Stars
I received my wonder washer in the mail and I've used it today. For now, I'm rating it four stars but I don't know how durable this little machine is in the long run. I think people who give it low ratings are expecting too much. It does what it promises; it washes your clothes. I put my clothes in along with cold water and a tablespoon of detergent and run it on the "delicate" setting for ten minutes. After that, I drain the water and fill it up with cold water, keeping it on the delicate settings for six minutes. I've used those settings and have not had any problems (such as splashing or moving of the machine) thus far. If you aren't a "nature person" and you don't dwell in areas where your clothes can get soiled, these settings should suit you. You have to wring your clothes in the end which is a hassle, but you'll save time in the long run (which should be your main reason for getting this machine). I find that I can multi-task while my clothes are washing--which beats sitting uncomfortably at a laundromat.
The only downside to this machine (like most people say) is that it is cheaply made. You have to be careful with it and hold it by the body (the handle is useless and will break with wear). It is also a little noisy but it's not TOO bad. Overall, you can't expect too much because you've only paid about $45-$50 for it. If you were expecting something amazing, you won't find it in that price range.
Customer Review: Great little washer Summary: 4 Stars
I ordered this small washer because the regular big washer broke and until it is repaired or replaced, I needed something right away. It basically consists of a plastic bucket with an integrated agitator, which sits on top of a motorized base with controls.
It is relatively easy to use. Add clothes, water and detergent and start the timer. You also need to empty the wash water when done and refill it for a rinse cycle. For this reason, I tucked the unit into a corner in the bathroom. You can use the bathtub to fill the bucket and empty it (the bucket won't work in most sinks because it is too large). Being just a bucket, it naturally does not hold a lot. Maybe 1 pair of jeans, or 2 shirts at a time.
But it cleans really well. Many of my shirts have been accumulating ring around the collar over the years after being through our large washer. One washing in the portable washer got them completely clean - amazing. I do not recommend washing socks with it. I ran a load of socks and it totally mangled them. They came out stretched out long and skinny and all twisted around each other. It even tore out some threads from the socks and they wrapped around them as well.
Overall, I think this is a great little machine to have around.
Customer Review: No more early waking up and lagging heavy loads to Laundromat Summary: 4 Stars
This product is heaven sent.
Prior to finding this product, I had to drag myself every three weeks out of bed at 5.30 in the morning just so I could eliminate the waiting time for washing machine availability in the Laundromat in our area. On top of that, I had to lag a heavy load of clothes.
With Wonder Washer, my clothes don't pile up anymore. In fact, I now find my hamper empty most of the time as I now wash my day's clothes after use at night. People might think it's a waste of time. For me, it's not. As my clothes wash, I can do other things. It has timer, loud enough to indicate when the washing ends. I don't mind replacing the water used for washing with clean water for rinsing... No big deal.
One load allows me to wash a day's clothes -- pants, shirt, underwear, socks. Amazingly, it also can wash my twin bedsheet, which has completely eliminated my need to go to the Laundromat... though I have yet to try washing my bath towels.
I highly recommend this to single people with small-sized clothes. It can wash more than one thinks it can. It's a big help, especially during winter season.
Customer Review: Not a problem in 7 months Summary: 4 Stars
I wanted to wait before I reviewed this item so that I could make sure it really worked for me. I must say I really like this washer. Some people gave it poor scores saying that it moved or the lid did not stay on. I put my washer on mats and it stays put. I am not sure if they are aware that there are tabs at the sides of the lid that locks into place when you twist it on.
My daughter wears white uniform shirts to school and I wash them one time (with food and pen or pencil marks on them) and they come out without a spot. Before the Wonder Washer, I would scrub like crazy and some of the stains would remain.
This washer should be used along with a spin dryer. After I drain the clothes in the sink, I rinse them off and then drop them in the spin dryer. I then hang them on a dryer rack and if I am in a rush I put the fan on high and within 15 minutes the clothes are dry.
I have no regrets with this purchase. If it ever stops working, I will buy another in a heartbeat.
