My husband always says, the more parts in a piece, the more likely it is to screw up. I always thought this was "just a saying" ...as he is prone to BSing his way around things. In this case it is absolutely true! We have had every kind of can opener you can imagine; the normal ones with a hand crank, the electric ones, the ones that take the lid off in such a way you can re-close it. They all suck. Why? They always break, and usually on the industrial sized cans of pork and beans we use to feed our tribe of kids. This little metal can opener, that looks more like two pieces of metal than a "normal" can opener, out does them all. The best news, they are industrial strength as they can open industrial size cans of pork and beans...and other things.
Ease of use is something you need to get used to. I admit I looked at this little thing and thought "THAT is gonna open this can?" My husband reassured me it would work. He explained "after the first punch in you just pull it around." I admit I was sighing and saying "Yeah right, easy for you to say Mr. Biceps." However, after about 3 tries I can now easily start and open any can in the house. Even my little 10 year old daughter, the princess of the house, can handle it. Of course everyone in the house had to take turns to learn how to use it. It was very interesting for the kids to see how "old people used to open cans." This lead to a lesson on various can openers in history (including FRED)through out the world. Really great stuff for our home schoolers...lol.
Now I can't imagine why I even considered buying any other can opener. I mean, you get 5 long life can openers in this deal for the price of one piece of crap can opener. Don't be put off by it's size. It can handle huge gallon cans and tiny dog food cans. It isn't hard to use if even my little daughter can use it. Also, it makes an interesting conversation piece for the uneducated masses when you have them over for dinner. This, Google, and a can...and you can have 3 hours of conversation ranging from wars to physics. Oh and I haven't gotten to the best part, you can put it on your key chain so you never lose it! Can't beat these can openers. They are better than sliced bread.
