Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Aerolatte Milk Frother, SatinCustomer Review: AMAZING!! Summary: 5 Stars
I wasn't even LOOKING for a milk foamer. I was reading the reviews for French Presses, and someone mentioned the Aerolatte milk foamer. After doing my due diligence on French Presses (30 freaking times! Can you say NEUROTIC? LOL!) I decided, as an afterthought, that for $15 I would go ahead and get the milk foamer to go with it.
When my shipment arrived, I looked at the Aerolatte's box. Laughing, I sarcastically (and using my best redneck accent) asked my husband if he RECKONED I would get foam as pretty as the box depicted. We,of course, agreed that I WOULD NOT. How could this little bitty THING with (2) AA batteries create THAT kind of foam?!?
Well, BUTTER MY BUTT AND CALL ME A BISCUIT if I didn't come home, put a little bit of milk in a glass (FAT FREE SKIM MILK, no less) and form a GLASS FULL OF STIFF FOAM IN A MATTER OF SECONDS!! EXACTLY LIKE the picture on the box!
As I drank my DELICIOUS homemade cappucino, and pondered how I much I would enjoy another one in the morning, I realized... My Aerolatte milk foamer is JUST ONE MORE EXAMPLE of much joy one can get from something which is powered by (2) AA batteries!!
Customer Review: Aerolatte is great ... rates 5 plus, plus, etcetera!! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm pleasantly surprised at the thick, firm, yet light, foam this product produces from homemade soy milk ... all that with my very first attempt! Now, I can experiment with some light flavors. Trust me ... this is a no brainer! My only regret is that I waited so long to give this little gadget a try. I'm at the bottom of my first large cup of coffee using this little frother, and the froth/foam had such staying power that I'm having to use a spoon to get the last it from the cup. Thank you Areolatte!!
UPDATE 12/22/06: Boy oh boy, how I love Aerolatte frothers!! I now own three of these little gadgets! I recently bought 2 more from the online Aerolatte distributor. The very newest top-of-the-line model is all stainless (even the handle), has a thicker stainless stem, and comes with a large stainless stand. Then, they have the black molded plastic one that comes with it's own sturdy grey, protective, plastic container with a cap on one end (not the one with the tin case) for on the road. I just can't seem to contain myself with how happy I am with this product! I hope this review is useful to some who might have doubt.
Customer Review: Wowee! Summary: 5 Stars
Read the instructions, and say good bye to commercial coffeehouses! So, I got this yesterday and I've only used it twice, and both times within 25 seconds I had mounds of thick foam with 2% milk heated to 120F in a microwave. I just love the fact that I won't be adding to landfills with disposable latte cups and using extra gas for the side trip to the coffee house on my way somewhere. I used this with my stove top espresso maker and had a most excellent cappuccino in ten minutes. I wait longer than that often at the shops! And of course pay more. I figure the fresh cappuccino I made cost less than 70 cents to make (not including the "capital investment"). The wand does seem a little "light" and slows down when placed deep into the milk, but once the frothing starts and you hold it just below the level of the milk, it is quite fast. I do think that stirring the wand slowly (and at a slight angle counter clockwise) starting at the bottom of the milk and making an upward spiral made the foam a little faster (end by making to or three passes just under the top of the liquid). I hope this lasts for a good long while!
Customer Review: There is a cheaper 5 Stars
This is an amazing item. I should know since I've owned the exact same frother purchased at IKEA for $3.99 a couple of years ago.
Like whipping cream, make sure your milk is cold. I personally have a Saeco Italian cappucino/espresso/coffee machine that does a great job of frothing along with producing excellent coffee. I can tell you that it still makes my coffee but this little beauty does all of the frothing for me.
Take your coffee cup and add raw sugar. Add to this your skim milk and froth the mixture with the frother for about 20-30 seconds. To clean it, run some water while holding the spinning end of the frother for a few seconds. Turn off the water and continue to spin the frother for a couple more seconds to dry it a bit. Set it back on the counter on its flat base and add your coffee to the mixture. Voila! Perfect coffee with a perfectly frothed head!
The batteries last amazingly long, too. Keep it away from excessive heat and your stove since it is primarily constructed of plastic, although it a stout design. Love it!
Customer Review: Superb milk frother - helped kick the expensive latte habit Summary: 5 Stars
The Aerolatte 5 Milk Frother works superbly. I just microwave a half cup of milk in a glass measuring cup for 60 seconds (a half cup of milk will froth up to fill the whole cup measure), then use the Aerolatte Milk Frother to churn the milk into a silky smooth froth. I have been able to kick my expensive latte habit (decaf mocha lattes) by making them at home (and did you know that Hershey's makes both a lite and sugar free version of their chocolate syrup now?). I experimented with different types of lactaid-free milk - whole, 2% and no fat, and found that they all froth up equally well. I did find that sometimes a carton of milk won't froth up as well as others - but it's the milk, not the frother that's the problem. If you get poor results with one carton of milk, try another. You'll know right away if the milk won't froth - it will form big bubbles instead of fine little silky ones, and the big bubbles will pop almost immediately. Before I bought the Aerolatte 5 Milk Frother, I used a whisk to froth my milk, but it took forever and didn't form as silky a froth.
