A friend at work kept telling me that coffee did not need to be bitter - even strong coffee. I did not believe him until I started using this coffee maker.
Although not long, the instructions contain great information about how to make really good coffee.
I have had mine for 3-1/2 years, made less than 350 cups of coffee, and it is still in good shape. The quality of the rubber and plastic seems to be excellent and durable. It would be hard to break this thing.
It takes about seven minutes to make a cup of coffee:
__Start heating water
__Measure & grind beans
__Put ground beans in tube
__Wet grounds - wait a few seconds
__Pour in water
__Stir for 10 seconds
__Wet plunger
__Plunge (about 25 seconds)
__Cleanup stuff

I recommend this product for its' ease of use and great results. The process is simple, coffe is great and clean-up is a snap. I purchased the AeroPress espresso/coffee maker after visiting my son. He had recieved one as a gift and was using it for his morning shots. I was impressed as he has always been a coffee shop drinker and would usually wait to have his coffee from the local barista rather than drink the home brewed variety. I now use this simple device for my coffee (americano) every morning and appreciate the simplicity of the process. (One note of caution: be sure that the cup used doesn't have too big of an opening. One disaster occured when, while pressing, the device slipped off the rim of a large cup I was using and I had a bit of a coffee mess to deal with. Won't do that again.)

I admit it - I'm a borderline coffee snob. If it doesn't taste good, it's not worth drinking in my opinion. I avoid regular restaurant brews and prefer specialty Rwandan coffee. The AeroPress made fantastic tasting coffee from the first use. Follow the instructions, especially for the recommended water temp, and you will enjoy a smooth, rich cup. I've enjoyed espressos, lattes and Americanos and all tasted fantastic. I've gotten rid of both my drip and French Press and appreciate the space saved and super easy clean up.
If you need to serve a large quantity of coffee, the AeroPress may not be for you. But, if taste is more important and you do not have a professional espresso machine with a personal Barista, I think you will be very happy using this coffee maker.

So, before I purchased the AeroPress, I didn't have any question in my mind that it would be awesome - based on all the awesome reviews. I can honestly say that it DOES make the best cup of coffee that I have ever had, and its really simple to do, once you get it down. Ever since I bought it, I have been using it every day, at least once in the morning, and I am completely satisfied with the ease of use, and the quality of the brew. Just make sure you have a good grinder, so you can get the ground beans small enough, because if they aren't - the coffee will come out a little bitter (I grind for 26 seconds). My only complaint is how much coffee you have to use for it, so if you can deal with going through a pound a week (having 2 cups a day), its worth it. This is by far the easiest way to make delicious coffee that you will find. It is unbelievable that such a simple product could make such delicious coffee, but it does. I use the AeroPress to make expresso, and then I mix the expresso with hot water to make Americano coffee. It is very, very easy (all you need are your two hands and a thermometer). The coffee has absolutely no bitterness and it has a smoothness which is difficult to explain for coffee. The directions say that it is due to the temperature and time that the hot water is allowed to extract the flavor out of the beans. Whatever it is, I don't care, it works. I know I'm selling this hard, but it really is that good. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait to use it when I go camping.
